FEB. building costs are what you want them to be. You are a long distance owner which means you probably have contracted with a builder to construct your home. If you listen to him and he is a typical
Lake Martin guy he has told you that your house will cost $175.00 to $250.00/sq ft. depending on finish w/o lot.. The Ridge has houses LISTED for $400.00+/sq ft. w/lot.

With all due respect, you are an out of towner, from Virginia, and you are at the mercy of the local guys. You probably made a deal with a contractor that gave you a 'warm, fuzzy feeling' and you're happy--that's great and I'm sure you'll be happy forever more----but that does NOT make you an authority on building or building cost on the Lake. Neither am I, but I have built and acted as general contractor; therefore, I do have some experience and I have observed what happens here.
