We're on Sandy creek also, and I've watched rains go to the north of us a lot and some to the south. We always got a lot of wind but no rain. Finally, last weekend we got two days with showers and one with a drizzle all night--that total was about 1". Ride around the lake and look at all the trees that have died this summer--it's DRY.
