Well I seem to remember that the Corps started to force Allatoona to increase their discharges, but only to a certain amount. Our decreases in drop correspond to Allatoona's releases. I can only assume that the maximum release has been reached over there. I don't know, but it seems reasonable to me. I am not privy to how many turbines run for how long at the dam. I can only assume you guys know a website that publishes such info. I really couldn't care less how long they run or how many. But I do know that it is not controlled at Martin Dam, but at HQ in Birmingham.

My most likely scenario is that they had an order for power to sell to the grid, at 10 to 100 times what they sell it to us for. Therefore increased generation was required to meet that demand. I am sure this will rile some feathers of some of you guys to find out they do this, but trust me they do. In fact APCO had its largest sales day ever this summer, in the midst of the drought. Imagine that. And I had a nearly a 50% increase over the same month last year.

We are all "suffering" this year. I have a couple of long term, very close friends who depend on the lake for their livelihood. They are really hurting this year. Fortunately they both have reserves to rely on, but I expect a few local businesses to not make it through the winter this year. That sucks. Yet Russell Lands, if we are to believe their propaganda, had the second best year ever. Some short term 'investors' are about to start selling off overpriced property. Oh well, maybe they should have been more reasonable with what they expected to gain.

It was stated earlier today that we are in a 10 year drought. That we haven't reached the 'average rainfall' in the past 10 years. All that tells me is it is time to adjust the 'averages'. Weather patterns change. I am reminded of something my Grandfather always said when asked "think its gonna rain? His answer was always the same.... "Always has". The rains will come, but until the 'rule' curve is changed, or the rules re-written about compliance with the rule curve, things are gonna stay about the same. Remember, they used to pull 50ft, then 30ft every year and still managed to fill it back up.

I am not trying to be argumentative, just stating things the way I see them. You and the leadership of the HOBO's are doing a GREAT job. Please keep it up!!! I am 100% behind you and think some other HOBO's could use you guys as an example to follow. I am also in favor of 485 winter pool, but we want see it this year. I hope for next year it will be in place.
