The news reports of yesterday's weekly teleconference should make it quite clear why the Lake Martin HOBOs and many others have been so concerned about the flow through demands of the dredging operation on the Alabama River. Alabama Power's decision to reduce flow throughs on the Coosa and Tallapoosa systems will hopefully mitigate this unprecedented situation. The decision by the Corp of Engineers to start this dredging operation in the midst of a drought can and should be questioned. On behalf of the Lake Martin HOBOs, we commend Alabama Power company for taking this action.
