If you really want to get rid of the mildew then just use bleach and water. If you pay the outrageous price for Starbrite you will find that it is bleach and water. Bleach is water, chlorine and caustic. Starbrite uses more caustic and less chlorine. I have a freind who works for Clorox in a bleach factory. He paid the high price for Starbrite last year and read the ingredients when he got home. He promptly returned it. It was several dollars a quart. He gets bleach for free.

Bleach water is fine as long as you rinse well. Very well. It is the only thing that will kill the mildew. Many other cleaners claim to but fall short in practical use. Rinse well and then clean and treat the vinyl. Fantastik is a great cleaner and recomended by several manufacturers. For protection there is a product developed for the airline industry that works very well. I don't recall the name but Fomby's uses it and sells it. It is expensive but worth the money.

One other thing that works well is SUNLIGHT. The ultra-violet light will kill the mold and mildew. It will leave behind the black stains though.
