Ok, here is the math on gas at $4/Gal. Most boats on Lake Martin have a fuel consumption between 2 miles per gallon to 4 miles per gallon. At 2 mpg, gas at $4/gal and an average cruise speed of 30mph, you are spending $1 per minute of boating pleasure. If you boat is fuel efficient and gets 4 miles per gallon, at 30 mph you are spending $.50 per minute. So lets see. From my place on Lake Martin to Sinclairs, it takes 20 minutes to get there and 20 minutes back. I spend $40 dollars on fuel and about $40 on a meal for two. That is $80 for about three hours of fun.
So, with that said, I don't feel any better but maybe I just need to go on a diet and chill out at Chimney Rock with a box of KFC and a six pack!
