I have only been on LM.com for three years (have had a house in Sandy Creek estates for 5) but last year the exchanges between LTL and another group got so bad that I blocked them all. After seeing some positive comments about LTL I took the block off because I value his insight into the lake and his historical perspective. I am glad that I did. I would say that he is an oldtimer but based on the fact that he and I were born in the same year I will describe him as a young man with lots of "experience" (my "experience" translates into gray hair...not sure about LTL as I've never met him)!

He is opinionated and often ornery but usually in response to someone else. I don't agree with everything he says but I respect his opinion. Others on LM.com seem to want to jump all over certain posters and in a way that totally lacks charity. That creates these unpleasant exchanges that prompted the addition of a block.

I also think his crticism of newbie lake house owners is a bit harsh but I don't take it personally because I know that I don't fit the bill while there be homeowners that do. Having said that, we still have personal property rights and if someone wants to build a McMansion on the lake that is their right (and I am sure LTL will agree). Despite the changes we have seen over the last 5 years (which are nothing compared to what LTL has seen since 1959), this is still the greatest investment I ever made for my family. Not because I am going to make a killing on the real estate but because I am creating memories for my children and our friends that will last a lifetime. Isn't that what lake living is all about???
