The Ethynol in the fuel creates higher than normal cylinder head pressures and different burn rates and temps. It also takes a little more Ethynol to make the same power as gasoline, thus at times creating a lean fuel condition. It is a good idea to run premium in any type of performance engine as it is a little more stable. Also, now would be a good time to lower the total timing of your engine by a couple of degrees. This will decrease detonation/pre-ignition from higher than normal cylinder head pressure and temps when running any type of Ethynol blended fuel. We have seen a few valve seat failures due to increase cyl. pressures. And, an occasional piston failure due detonation. I don't know or have heard nothing about water mixing with blended fuel. I don't think that holds any bearing on these types of failures. Hope to see all you guys soon next time we visit your beautiful lake.
