My son came home a few hours ago to find someone swimming behind our pontoon boat. He yelled down, asked if they needed something. The guy claimed he was only "using the bathroom" and said he would go somewhere else. He swam off upstream and a couple minutes later an old boat, with him and 2 others in it took off downstream. The guy flipped my son off as he went by.

If you haven't figured it out yet, he was trying to steal the gas from the boat. My son said the fuel line was taken loose but not cut. I'll be checking in a few minutes. We called the Talladega County Sherrifs office and a deputy came out. He told me they had already notified the Marine Police but since they didn't actaully get anything, there wasn't much we could do.

How bad off do you have to be to resort to stealing gas from a boat in broad daylight? Any insight Chief? There was 2 full 5 gallon cans up on the pier if he had just looked a little closer. And, if I had been here, I'd have given the guy gas money if he was that bad off. But if they are gonna try to steal it, I might have to check the pattern on my shotgun.

Oh well, let's not let it ruin our weekend. I think I'll get a head start on tomorrows activities. The reason I wasn't here was I had made a store run to stock up on "supplies".
