Since Memorial Day is just a few days away, it’s time to remind people of how the American flag should be treated on that holiday since it’s something that’s often forgotten. The American flag should be flown at half-staff until noon on Monday. It should then be raised to the top of the staff. If you raise your flag Monday morning (as opposed to having an illuminated all-weather flag you leave out all night), you need to raise it to the top of the staff and then lower it to half-staff from there.

Since this thread will likely be viewed by the fewest out of town thieves, I am putting in my "How to keep other people's trash out of your garbage can". What I do is save light weight plastic juice bottles, wash them and put them into my trash can in big garbage bags. Anyone can see that the can is "overfull". On Tuesday night, I remove the bottles and put in the real trash. I can only hope that only trash can renters read this thread.

It bugs me that my neighbors think it is OK to not rent their own cans and use "just a little" as one man I caught said. Yeah yeah, he can afford a place on the Lake but not a can rental.
