I was about to suggest posting it to the classifieds as free and noticed someone at Lake Mitchell is looking for a pedal boat. The link below will send you there... Good luck!

This brings back memories for me... Years ago my Dad and I bought a pedal boat for cheap in somewhat disrepair. The floats were thin fiberglass with hairline cracks so we took it home and applied layers of fiberglass cloth and resin... We applied enough additional layers we wondered if we added too much weight that it would sink. When we took it to the lake it floated just fine.

Later, when I was 16 years old, some friends and I ventured out several hundred yards from the pier on the pedal boat and here comes the marine police. They stop and give me a ticket for not having life jackets on board. Having used the padle boat mostly as a swim platform close to the cabin the thought of life jackets never crossed my mind until that incident. Yes... Young and dumb!

Another legal aspect of non-powered vessels in Alabama, I read recently where non-powered vessels require registration. I know we did not have our pedal boat registered at that time but that may not have been required in 1986. I did not get ticketed for no registration... Man, that would have been a double whammy...
