Charter has a self install kit for a cable modem. If you have enough computer intelligence to use this website then you can hook the cable modem up yourself. This is what I did in Bham. Check to see if they offer the kit for Lake Martin. I don't know why you are so surprised. It's the same with any service industry these days. They all stink. Like my father always said, if you want something done right, do it yourself
