Quoting you... "I can't imagine what some of the people with smaller boats than mine feel like out there on the open water when lots of the big boats are cruising around."

When was the last time you seen lots of the big boats cruising around, and how frequently is that occurance? How about creating a law that doesn't address actual problems versus opinions... Wait a minute, I almost forgot, they did two years ago.

It's going to be a terrible day when MP are stopping someone to measure the length of their boat when some drunken fool blows by them on a "legal" boat and plows into people swimming, dock, or some other accident. I know of 3 deaths on Lake Martin since this law was passed, and none of the boats in question were longer than 23 feet. I have also either read about drug busts, witnessed DUIs, fights etc. from persons not driving these outlawed boats. There has been property damage during at least one of these situations that is documented, I haven't seen a single documented case of a cruiser causing property damage. Not that is doesn't happen, because some people do not understand the difference between displacment and planing. I hate it when cruisers "plow" too, why not consider that "reckless driving" and enforce it? Either cause no wake, or operate at plane speed... sounds good to me.
