Thank you for calling me "stupid". I've never been called that before. And yes, thank you, I have studied economics. And I spent 32 years working for the Department of Defense, so I'm well acquainted with the sacrifices of our military; well acquainted with the inter-relationship between industry and our national security. I would NEVER take anything away from our military members -- they are the finest, best trained and most dedicated men and women in the world. My husband is a veteran of Viet Nam, my father a WWII veteran and my grandfather a WWI veteran.

I disagree with those who think our economy is in great shape. I have my 401K funds invested in the stock market and have watched them take a plunge over the past couple of years. I saw my house value decrease by $200K in the past 2 years. While individual companies may have profited, I think overall the economy has not done well.
Health care remains a huge issue for many Americans. In other forums to which I belong, I know a number of people who cannot seek medical care because they do not have health insurance. If you don't think health insurance is an issue, talk to someone with a catastrophic illness who doesn't have it.
Illegal immigration. My sister lives in Arizona. Talk to her about illegals. She has had to fence her yard and buy dogs to protect her property from illegals. I would love for you to have had the chance to visit a metropolitan area emergency room on a Saturday night if you don't think illegals are a problem.

Democracy in the Middle East? I wouldn't put my money on it. You've probably never been to the Middle East and never had the opportunity to talk with people that are actually from the Middle East. Talk to our soldiers about the Middle East and ask them how soon they think Iraq will be a democratic state. The idea of democracy in the Middle East was put forth by a few ivory tower intellectuals -- namely Paul Wolfowitz, Doug Feith and Condi Rice. None of whom has a degree in Middle Eastern studies.

And to the nice lady who feels she has to stand up for women by sending her lipstick to Obama -- I'm a woman too. I don't think he was making a feminist statement, but if it makes you feel like you are striking a blow for women, by all means. I personally think Sara Palin in being used by the good ole boys of the GOP, but I'm happy to see a women making advances wherever and whenever.
