I don't ever think that we can stop being vigilent about our national security or about where are elected officials are leading our country. Given the appointments he's made, I just don't see Obama getting into bed with Pelosi and Reid, but one can't tell. Politics makes strange bedfellows. I'm not worrying yet, but I am waiting to see what will happen. I doubt that Repubs and Dems are going to be embracing each other any time soon. Even the Republicans are split within their party. I'm optimistic about the future, because it is my nature to be so. But, I don't think that it's going to be easy. And if Obama turns out not to be a transformational figure, maybe he'll be a good transitional figure until someone else steps up. I'm convinced that there are good candidates out there, but for whatever reason, they are choosing not to run.

As far as those "liberated" Iraqis, they haven't declared Bush their national hero just yet. Maybe they will in time. I'm not optimist about countries that have democracy thrust upon them, instead of seeking it for themselves. But time will tell. I'm still hoping our military is allowed to go after the bad guys in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan. I think there will be additional attacks on the US. 9/11 taught Americans that we're vunerable. And it doesn't have to be anything as dramatic as flying planes into the WTC. We know that there are individuals in the world (and probably here in the US) who are looking for an opportunity.
