I don't know any more than what I have read on the Internet, but I think the Captain did an outstanding job; there are so many things that could have gone wrong in addition to the engine problems. I absolutely believe experience played a huge role in the outcome. Like Capt Haynes (from the United crash several years ago) I believe this guy will be proven a hero. I always tell my friends and family to fly on a "major worldwide" airline and to make sure the ticket they buy is NOT booked on one of the airlines contract carriers or subsidiaries that use less experienced pilots.....unfortunately, this is not always easy to determine if you don't know the business. By saying this, I mean no disrespect against any pilots, but let me put it in perspective. I am a mid-level Captain at a major airline and I have been flying airplanes for 29 years. Every co-pilot I fly with was either a military pilot (like myself) or a Captain for a smaller or subsidiary airline before joining us. They are great pilots, but they still have a lot to learn.....heck, I'm still learning and will be until the day I retire. When the $hit hits the fan, nothing beats experience in the cockpit and the more you have, the better (although I also believe in age restrictions, and I think 65 is pushing the limits on the other end).

I can only hope I would do as well if something like this ever happened under my watch.
