Just heard that the pilot has a lot of experience including being a military pilot (I think they said F-4) and has 19,000 hours of flying.
I heard an expert saying that the pilot had to make a lot of decisions almost instantaneously. In addition to his skill, he must have had an angel sitting on his shoulder.
He is definitely a hero in my book.
