I agree with you about the hyphenated terms. I have usually asked people if they prefered "black" or "African-American" and 9 time out of ten, they told me "black". Now my college advisor was an "African American" being from Nigeria and holding a dual citizenship.

It will be interesting to hear Obama's inaugural speech. Oration is such a powerful tool.
