"the only visible crack" is the key here. Be careful. You may create more work down the road. You did not mention what engine it is. McKay made a good point about water in the oil as well. Let me know what engine you have, (small block, big block or something to go on). I may have something here for you. Remember also, water pressure inside a marine engine, depending on what you have for set up can reach 25-35psi. A normal car engine will have 14-16, depending on what radiator cap is on it.
