ok--heres one for the record books--opened mail Sat form my good old Capital One Visa people--have been a platimum plus titanium gold--- member 12 years; never missed a payment--maybe carry $500-$1000 a month on a $25,000 high credit limit; heres what they said :GOOD CUSTOMER OF OURS-- "DUE TO THE UNCERTAIN ECONOMIC TIMES, WE ARE, EFFECTIVE APRIL 28, CHANGING THE TERMS ON YOUR CARD; PURCHASE & TRANSFER RATES WILL NOW BE WALL ST JOURNAL PRIME + 14.24% [PRIME CURRENTLY 3.25%; SO, MY RATE WOULD BE 17.49%; surely i thought, not never delinquent me --sure nuff--i called--it applies to all; now, if i recall, fed funds are at 1%--so Cap one bank can borrow from Fed at that rate--yet lend to me at 17.49 !!! this certainly stimulates me to go borrow !! what it has done its prompt me to draft a nice letter thatnking Capital One for their generous offer--but no thanks--I also included with the letter my 2 cards, cut up, with a request to close--watch your mail for these wonderful stimulus offers !!!!
