I don't know how you train a dog not to bark. At least, I haven't been successful yet with my hound. But, leaving a dog that is a known barker tied up outside is a recipe for murder. Nothing worse than listening to someone else's dog barking for hours on end.

People can have electronic pet fences installed. I had one in VA and it worked fine. It won't keep other dogs out of the yard, but it will definitely keep your dog in. It wasn't cheap, but it definitely kept my GSP in his own yard.

I love animals and it doesn't bother me when my neighbors dogs come visiting as long as they play nice with my dogs. But, not everyone feels that way. No one should have to be aggrevated with someone else's pets. I would hope that a word with the owner would be sufficient and guns would not have be drawn and fired. The way some of the people here seem to feel, I wonder if we should bring back gun duals at dawn?
