Why don't we just leave the economy alone and let it settle in to where it really should be?

Over a period of years we moved from a manufacturing economy to a service economy - and thus began building a house of cards that is now crumbling before our eyes. What value does a nail salon add to our economic strength? A title pawn business? As far as that goes, a restaurant? Other than feeding the title pawn business because of too many times eating out and too many visits to the nail salon, nothing.

What ever happened to the concept of taking raw materials, adding labor, and producing something of more value than the materials and labor cost to produce it? Oh, excuse me, we let it all go to China - and yet we can't seem to resist the urge to shop at Harbor Freight because their tools are so much cheaper (and, while we spend less for those tools, more of our wealth thus goes out of the US to China).

What we are in the middle of is a national wake up call. We have become too soft, too danm complacent, and too demanding. Gotta get back to the basics.

Hound, other than the necessary infrastructure spending (police, fire, schools, roads), the Government needs to get the he!! out of our way and let us sink or swim on our own. Bush might (although I remain unconvinced) have gotten us into this mess, but Obama and his sleazebags in Congress are making it ten times worse. It sure looks to me like all they are doing is shoring up their Democratic voter base so they can stay in power. I don't think they care one whit about the well-being of America. How in the world does sending money to the National Endowment for the Arts stimulate the economy???

Just bought an AR-15. Have never had a desire to own an assault weapon, and still don't, but the way things are going I fear that I might need one to defend what little I have. One might think that the predictions of hyperinflation, anarchy, and revolution are too severe, and by God I hope they are. But if they are unfortunately accurate, I, for one, plan to be prepared.
