Consider adding a garbage disposal. All the foodstuffs go down the disposal. Rinse out any cans or plastic that held meat and you should have non-stinky bags to take home.

In our case, nobody on our dirt road has garbage service. They told us we would have to haul it up to the paved road. Huge hassle.
