I remember that bad year. But I also remember the good one plenty of rain on the crops. In fact it was so good the sweet potatos grew so large that they grew from one side of the river to the next. We had a heck of a time trying to keep the hogs from rooting all the way from one side to the other side of the river. Water melons were so large that they had to be sent to market on a railway flat car. You could put only one cabbage head on the back of a pickup truck, and the leaves would fall off the sides and get under the tires.
