Sorry I'm late jumping in on this one.

I have tried several types of natural lump also but not all of them (yet). I haven't found any that burn as hot or as long as BGE charcoal. Even Royal Oak states they get theirs from the same place as BGE but it wasn't nearly as good as BGE.

I get BGE charcoal for $9.00 / 20 lb bag at the Eggtoberfest. I normally buy 10 bags and that lasts me most of a year.
