Just going out and flinging can get ugly, so get lessons of some kind. I learned by watching video(no, it wasn't so long ago that it was a silent movie) and reading about proper technique, but some good live instruction would be better. Bass Pro Shops has a fly fishing department, and I have seen sign up sheets for classes there, so check with them. They will have you tying size 22 flies before you know it.
