could something as phenomenal as these kids accomplishing what they did (winning the Little League World Series) be turned into a negative, controversial topic. I'm sorry I shared it with you people.
Yeah, it's an all white team. How many all black sports teams have we accepted without ANY comment whatsoever? BTW...we wouldn't have BOUGHT them as slaves had their people not SOLD them as slaves.
Thank God none of you are my neighbors.

I thought it was great that Columbus won! I didn't see but one bad remark...and I think you may need to consider the source.
In 1971 I played little league baseball in Charlotte NC. It was a all white league, all white neighborhood, and all white schools. I participated in the federally mandated intergration effert and was bused to a black school. I met and became good friends with 2 black guys (they were brothers whose parents were attorneys).
I talked them into signing up for little league baseball. Reluctantly, they did. It caused a big stink at first. We use to go get them every day and take them to practise. Unfortunately, neither got on my team. They were great ball players and their respective teams went on to play each other in the championship game.
Everyone changed their tunes when they got to know them and found out how good of ballplayers they were. They became very popular....because they were good guys...not just good players. These guys pretty much kept me alive one day because they helped me out of a black on white gang fight in which I was THE white in this fight against about 8 blacks. They stood right with me.
There were some hard times back then...make no mistake. There were gang fights and all kinds of things going on. Those efferts changed our country and I'm proud to have done a little to help.
The fact is, baseball is very very popular with white kids. I don't think it has anything to do with any prejudices but the Alabama Crimson Tide roster has about 30 whites and 1 black. Those numbers change every year.
Don't goup us all in the same boat. JIM don't speak for me!!.

I speak for myself, like it or not. What I said is true,some people can`t stand or tell the truth. The last time AL. played Hawaii they got spanked.

i am from the area and it is a huge deal! my mother brought me the Ledger Enquirer today, you would think they were all her kids. sorry your post turned sour. WORLD CHAMPS.... how many on this forum have ever been a part of something like that. not me.

Down here in Tallahassee, the very fine historically black college, Florida A&M, has a tough time getting good black baseball players. Young black athletes seem to eschew baseball in favor of football or basketball. Strange.
