Listening to the local weather this week I heard the following statement; "As local residents prepare for the 'unseasonably cold' weahter this week...."

Would someone please explain to me how a cold snap in Winter is 'unseasonably cold'. Unusaully cold, extreme cold, extended cold, the list of appropriate adjectives could go on and on.

I guess with curiculums concentrating on Global Warming they just can't find time to teach the seasons anymore.....

“Unseasonably” cold is freezing in August in Alabama.

Perhaps they meant "unusually" or "abnormally"… but then, those adjectives are boring.

A really catchy adjective is “malapropistic”

I was thinking more along the lines of "bit** a** cold" - seems to sum it up, no Websters needed.
