McCain Says He Doesn't Back 14th Amendment Change

Sen. John McCain says he does not support changing the Constitution to end automatic citizenship for children born to illegal immigrants.

My Commentts
1. Why should the children born to an illegial father and an illegial mother automatically have citizenship?
2. I would agree that the child born to an Americal citizen, father or mother, should have American citizenship.

That is my feeling as well ... one of the parents must be an american citizen .... I would even go as far to say if both parents are not american, as long as both are in the US legally then allow citizenship. But it is nuts how illegals are coming in to the US getting free medical care and have a child that is now a US citizen entitled to all the rights of such.

the 14th amendment never considered the problem with illegals we have today.

They call them "Anchor Babies". I used to employ a Mexican that was a US citizen. She said that the Mexicans laugh at us. She says they come over pregnant or get pregnant asap then wife claims she lives alone in the apartment and has no income, gets food stamps and all kinds of assistance incuding medicaid for the baby while husband works for cash, files no tax return and lives at home with the family. The social services are so overwhelmed they can't possibly keep track of all this. We are the only developed country that still allows this. It's all political. Each party thinks they can get the burgeoning hispanic vote and won't do anything to alienate the illegals.

Well the first step is ... when they apply for aid and they are not a citizen, let alone here legally ... they should be told I am sorry, since you are not a citizen or a legal resident we can not provide you assistance. You should go back to your home country and I am sure they will assist you. Goodbye and dont let the door hit you in your butt on the way out.

It should be that plain and simple. Who ever decide we should provide aid to anyone, even illegal residents.

I can imagine they are laughing at us .... no other country in the world would do that. If you were in their country illegally, not only would you not get aid, you would be thrown in jail.   And guess what ... they do not have an immigration issue.

What is a matter with our government.   I know this is not a recent thing .... but it needs to stop and stop soon.

They are not getting aid for themselves. They are getting aid for the US citizen baby. That's the problem with the Anchor Babies. That opens the door. Now you probably didn't know this but once this happens the government policy is not to "break up" families so we let the daddy in too. The American people are asleep at the switch. This is why Medicaid is broke along with the state governments. We have gotten fat, slow and passive. And most of all we don't demand that our political class have morals. We don't have a regulation problem or political problem. We have a morality problem. We are the enemy.

We are asleep at the switch. And, we have been asleep since the end of WW2. Way too comfortable. Always thinking we are invincible. Even after 911. Not so. Not a big enough punch in the mouth.

Our political system is a disgrace, and elections in 2010 and 2012 are not likely to change that. Voters, even informed voters, don't know who is lying today. How can they know who is lying? Republican/Democrat/Tea Party/et. al.

That is really very fertile ground for our enemies, that being wait for the US to destroy itself internally. And, we are doing a pretty good job of it.
