OK. OK. Case closed, end of story. Verizon  wins over AT&T, hands down, at least in Parker Creek, and I suspect elsewhere on the lake.
Just wanted to be able to make a voice call from our place with ATT, and, many times I got a "No Service", let alone a data app that would let me see a tornado coming my way, that is, after my satellite went down because of the tornado. Blind.
So,,,So,, we upgraded our ATT service to a data package with the IPhone device. Spectacular, except it doesn't work.
Hodja already told me so with his SmartPhone, so did others. But, my neighbor loaned me her Verizon Android yesterday to prove the point. IPhone "No Service". Android 4 Bars, under a metal roof, in the den, on the porch, in the can<<<<.
Returning the IPhones tomorrow and changing to Verizon. Can't wait for the Bloody War at ATT store. Oh well>

Was at Sams looking at phones today. They have the I phone 4 (Verizon)  for $147. Expecting the Droid X2 soon for about the same price.

But my experience up to now has been similiar to yours (i.e., Verizon service better than AT&T). What is a cost comparison of the service packages? Anyone know/

They are very close....I get a company discount with Verizon, which means a better price and better service.

As George Wallace would have said back in the 60's, put them all in a sack, shake them up, and they all come out the same.
All assume a 2 year contract, with severe penalty for cancellations.
Go online to see options, very convoluted. In my case, I just want to be able to make a phone call.

and if you could make a call,  you could also answer when someone is driving by your pier.....

That would be nice, you know?? To be able to actually answer a call from someone at the end of my pier??
You and Larry were lucky, I had already drawn my .45 Taurus as you two scrungy looking people walked up the dock.

Easy thar now par'ner.

I have had various phones across the lake from you since 1996.  Alltel and then Verizon when they merged.  Service was off and on for a few years but very good now, especially after the merger.

It will be the same thing for ATT when they fullly merge with T-Mobile.  Yes, V has the best overall service around the lake.  But T-Mobile is not so far behind. And much better plans/rates than V.  One of the points of acquisitions is to get the towers.  One year if sanity ever gets here, towers will be shared. This is absolutely stupid everybody having their own.

Here's another question. Apparently some of the second tier providers like Straight Talk and Net10 sell monthly unlimited plans around $50. No 411 charges either. According to Clark Howard they use the Verizon towers for coverage. Anyone have experience with these?
