Subject:   Smart Water Valve to prevent freeze damage

I am thinking about adding a Smart Water Valve Controller to our water supply line at the lake house to prevent potential damage from a frozen pipe or a water heater leak.  The valve would be WiFi based and could be controlled remotely from a Smart Phone.

I have been researching Moen and YoLink brands, both available at Home Depot or Amazon.

I have a few questions and would truly appreciate any input you might have:

1.  Have you had any experience with this type of valve?

2.  Could you mention which make and model you have?

3.  Are you happy with the valve?

4.  Which features are important to consider?

Thanks in advance!

I just bought and installed a different brand that doesn't require technology.  It has an internal thermometer and when the water temp gets to 34 degrees it opens up until the temps rises and then closes. Here is the link to their website.

Thanks for the post on the Freeze Miser.  That's a clever idea!

De nada.  Can't say that I have tested it fully as we turn off the water when we leave.  But it got good ratings and I like the simplicity of the device.
