Everyone who was so vocal about this bill has gone silent. I have read only one post, from a supporter of this bill to have anything to say. Could that be because this new law (not yet signed by Riley) is really going to destroy this lake? The legislators and senators were supporting the big boys (APCO AND RUSSEL) That is why the bill changed in their favor. Think about it !!!!! A lot of people that are effected by this bill are going to go out and buy, faster boats and boats that make BIGGER WAKES!!!!!! The way this is going, Lake Martin will be a GREAT RETIREMENT HOME!!! Nothing LEGAL, except rocking on the front porch!!!!! Wonder how many people will buy on the lake then??? The lake is for enjoyment. NOT GREED!!

How does GREED fit into the debate?

How does 'greed' fit into this debate.....

I have been thinking about the boat bill passing and I own property on the lake, and I am the owner of a boat this is NOT banned.

IF the CONCERN was really about the quality of water, erosion of the shore line, etc the bill would apply to ALL Alabama lakes, the fact that it doesn't help show this bill was passed for the interest of a few.

Were the 3 lakes that were singled out, the ONLY lakes that have 'big boats' ???

Quit hyperventilating. What universe do you live in? This "smaller boats that go fast will make bigger wakes" is about the 99th argument you big boaters have made against this sensible legislation. This argument doesn't have any more credibility or make any more sense than any of the others.

Have you ever been on the lake when a 35' Fountain comes roaring by? If you have you know you are just making stuff up now.

We are trying to point out that this legislation actually could make the lake more dangerous that having the "large loud boats" on it. What might happen is that people trade their new "illegal" large cigarette style boats for something smaller and faster that is not illegal. Lets say that someone owns a 38 foot fountain that goes 80 mph and trades it in on a 24' boat with all the motor that will fit in it and it goes 120 mph. Because they have the money left over from the sale of the larger boat and they still like fast boats they can afford to make their smaller "legal" boats faster. The 38 foot fountain at 80 mph will be much more controllable than the 24 foot at 120 mph therefore it just seems logical that there will be more deadly accidents with the new law than with no law in place. This is just my perspective and I know that some disagree and some just dont care because they think that their lake will once again be quiet for their enjoyment but I may just be right and there may be more accidents on the lake. I hope that this does not happen but it is a possiblility.

And what I am pointing out is that this is argument number 1,436 that you have thrown against the wall to see if it sticks and it doesn't. The only thing we are going to see changed from this legislation is fewer ear drum splitting blue water boats on the Lake, to the great satisfaction of everyone except the owners of those boats, and maybe some wannabes who will think they have "made it" if they are ever able to afford one..

Just because there are a quite a bit of arguments against this bill doesnt mean that they all are not legitimate. I was mearly pointing out what might happen. It just seems to me that you are trying to bash every argument because there are a lot of arguments against this bill not because they dont have merit. Seems like a dumb way of countering arguments to me.
