As promised here are the minutes from the inaugural meeting:

Lake Martin HOBOs Organizational Meeting

There was discussion about the different lake organizations and their roles, as well as the HOBO groups already active in other communities around the country.

MOTION to name the organization Lake Martin HOBOs. The motion passed unanimously

There was discussion about annual dues, both the amount as well as what would dues fund.

Other expenses to consider are:

· Post Office Box
· Incorporation – Start up cost
· Liability policy
· Advertising

MOTION to set the Family Annual Membership fee at $25. The motion passed unanimously


MOTION to set the Individual Annual Membership fee at $15. The motion passed unanimously

MOTION to set the Business Annual Membership fee at $50. The motion passed unanimously

Further discussion of membership fees indicates an interest in a Lifetime membership fee at all levels. Also, that an extra line be added to the application $______ for an extra contribution.

Discussion of the scope of the organization, and suggestions:

Lake Level - Other HOBOs have appealed directly to FERC (Federal Energy Regulation Commission) to start a higher water level several years early on a trial basis. There is a need to attend the Alabama Power re licensing meetings. HOBOs need to participate in subcommittees.

Water Quality Committee - Lake Watch would participate as the HOBO subcommittee for water and all environmental issues.

Lake Clean Up- The next scheduled lake clean up is Saturday, July 14 from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon. There will be free T-shirts and gloves for all who participate. The collection points are:

· Union Boat Ramp
· DARE Park in Dadeville
· Kowaliga
· Alexander City Boat Ramp

Zoning - Long Range Goal

Shoreline Preservation

Fish & Wild Life

Recreation

Boating Safety

The next meeting is tentatively planned for Saturday, June 23 at 4:00. The Alexander City Elks Lodge will be contacted regarding availability on that date. Meetings will rotate around the lake. An announcement will be made on Lakemartin.com, in the newspapers, and via email to the members who signed up today.

Just got back from the lake and tired as he-double toothpicks. Fooled with a darn sprinkler issue for 5 hours today and never once got on the lake. I'M PISSED - LOL !!!!

Going to email all you guys and gals tomorrow which have told me you are interested with a membership application and where to send you dues, etc.

We were at the Sea Base scout camp on the south west corner of the island..... Great experience and a class operation. We camped on Munson Island for a night and went deep sea fishing, snorkeling, sailing, and more. Fun was had by all.
