Yes and so does the Do It Center. The service station at 63/14 in Wetumpka is $.60 a 7lb bag. There is also a "twice the ice" at the intersection of Hw 14 and the road to the boat ramp in Wetumpka. Have fun.

Yes and Yes. The shortest route to Gold Star Park from Eclectic is to turn left at the Hwy 14/231 traffic light; take an immediate right (the twice the ice is on your right) and that road goes to downtown Wetumpka. Turn left before you cross the bridge and Gold Star Park will be on your right.

Best of luck on your river trip...........sure hope it turns out better than the one two buddies and I just crawled back from. We took off for the St. Johns River (just below Jacksonville Fl) last Sunday morning early pulling a 24 ft Pontoon with the plan to put in just below J-ville and cruise down to Astor and beyond and then make the return trip over a week. If you've paid attention to the weather you know there has been a hard blow coming from the ne . It got dicey when we tried to cross Lake George- a 6 mile wide and 11 mile long lake that has an average depth of 8-9 feet . The wind out of the ne at about 25+mph gave us a following wake, but got progressively rougher as we went south. We finally turned around and backtracked to Georgestown Marina and the old veteran marina manager told us "good thing you turned back cause they were having 5 foot rolling waves on the south end,and that we might have had some problems!!!" Great trip while it lasted though........no water level problems, and rain like we have forgotten about!! Has any one on here ever taken this trip before, if so any similiar experiences?

I grew up boating on the St. Johns river, we made the trip all the way from Sanford Fl. to Jax and back down the intercoastal waterway to Daytona Beach. was a blast, took all weekend on a 270 Searay, Lake George can get rough, glad you guys made ok, I sure have some great memories of boating on the St. Johns River, this was back in the late 70s early 80s.

Sounds like a good time. I have been thinking about a trip Cat was telling me about. Running from Destin to Panama city on the ICW. Would like to try that sometime.

Gold Star. It's the only one in Wetumpka. We'll be there about 10:15am.

Thanks for the reply..........I can understand how much fun could be had on the River............it was beautiful, but also very shallow! Would love to go back and complete that trip one of these days......maybe when the weather would allow us to cross Lake George and go on down to Sanford. I'm curious about how narrow the river gets once you go past Astor, any idea? Have a great river day.

Hey Rude,

Once you get past Lake George going south the river get about as narrow as the Alabama River with lots of nice turns and a couple of NO WAKE areas for Manatee (sp), always thought it was cool to see them in the same area as aligators, we did not go swimming much...lol
