What ever happened to this idea. It was kicked around last year, but interest seems to have wained. I heard on the radio that the state requires a minimum of 1000 tags ordered before they will start production. I heard this during Breast Cancer Awareness week when a lady was on the radio pushing for a Breast Cancer tag. Does anybody have any more details?

I think it is a great idea. I would buy one or two myself. We should be able to find 1,000 supporters off the forum alone!

I did the research on it last year & I will pull it up again at work tomorrow. It wouldn't be hard to do, the money for the tag would have to be kept in state. Several members suggested that the money be split between Children's Harbor, The Trails, and I can't recall the other suggestion.
I thought it would be nice to get the Denney (sp??) guy to design the tag. If any of you know him maybe you could ask him. I will be happy to help coordinate this or give the information to someone else if they want to spearhead it. Just let me know...

Are we talking about official tags or just the ones that go on the front of the car. How about the Tag holders for those of us who are not lucky enough to live at the lake full time? Now that would be a good fundraiser. I think I have a company reps card that we buy out hats and shirts from if someone wants to do the research. My hands are full right now.

We already have UA and AU tags. These would be specific LM tags issued throught the DMV. As I stated, I heard that it requires 1000 orders before the state will produce the tags. I don't know any artists, but I got an email from a lady recently who was willing to donate some of her art for another cause. Maybe she could help with the design.
The previous suggested recipients were Childrens Harbor, Camp ASCA, Cherokee Bluffs Hiking Trails, and the ELKS Youth camp.

I know there are already Alabama and Auburn tags. If you had an Alabama or Auburn logo along with Lake Martin, more people would want them. They would not mind removing their old tags knowing they could still have their logo. This could be an option. Not all lake folks care about UA or AU, just most.

That would be me. The offer is still good for the other cause. I'm not sure that my art would appeal to the general public. Art is such a personal taste. I would be willing to try some ideas, but I'm an artist by passion not for a living. : ) Now if your looking for self storage, I can help. LOL

I wasn't going to 'out' you since the offer came in private email. As for "self " storage, I don't like confined spaces, but I am sure there are others that would LOVE to see me locked away....lol.

I believe you could find the support with out the college logos. This license plate should be dedicated to Lake Martin and give the money to the groups that have been mentioned in the other threads. Lake Martin is a great place to live.

If we're talking about a fundraiser, most of that money goes to the sate correct? I understood that the charity gets $15.00 of each $50. The license plate covers with Lake Martin would be a more practical thing for a fundraiser and cover all states that come to the lake. I have seen Indian Springs tags when I was out west and it started a conversation @ the pumps. Just a thought.

No..it is the opposite here. Close to $50 of each tag goes to charity.
