I send money to HOBO and to LMRA to most local charities and to several groups of Nuns.
I don't care if any of these people represent me or not. So I do not see the connection between money and representation. When I want representation in a politiac arena, I hire a lobbiest. There are some good ones who live on the lake. One is from LTL's home town.
MY QUESTION IS:
WHY DO YOU MAKE AN ISSUE OUT OF "REPRESENTING ALL STAKEHOLDERS"
JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE OR SOME ORGANIZATION SAYS IT REPS ALL STAKEHOLDERS, DOESN'T MEAN IT REPRESENTS "all stake holders on all issues" THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.
WHY CAN'T YOU TWO SEE IT.
THE ISSUE IS NOT WHETHER OR NOT YOU LIKE CAT, LIKE YOU TRY TO MAKE IT. IF YOU LIKE CAT, INSTEAD OF PANDERING TO HIM ON THIS FORUM, WHY NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT HIS SHOP, POST THE GOOD RESULTS OF HAVING SPENT THAT MONEY (LIKE I DID) .
OR SEND HIM A GRAND TO REPRESENT YOU ON THE BIG BOAT ISSUE. NOT THE 25 BUCKS YOU SENT
NOW I THINK THAT IF THE HOBO'S AND LMRA AND ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION, LOBBIES FOR CLEANER WATER AND HIGHER WATER LEVELS, THAT ORGANIZATION IS "REPRESENTING ALL STAKE HOLDERS" AT LEAST ON THAT ISSUE.

OK let's see what does HOBO stand for again, oh yeah, “Home Owners” And "BOAT OWNERS" When they were trying to eliminate part of the members activities there should have been representation, why can you see that! Guess we can just drop the Boat Owners and call them the Lake Martin HO’S!

Exactly KMA! I donate to my Congressman and the Repub party, however, I know for a fact that he, nor the party, represent all of my views on all items, but for the most part he, they and me desire the same end point.
To address the Board member issue, a position on any board should not eliminate your ability to act as a private citizen and support causes that you feel passionately about, however, you must understand that your action will be scrutinized and ought to be consistent with your organization's views.

Bot not ALL boat owners want the same thing, so how can they represent all of them? They can't. What you and others want is a HOBO that represents YOUR interests, and anybody who doesn't want what you want can go straight to h*ll.

And if there were an issue that your dear congressman did not vote on the way you wanted and it resulted in your losing the ability to do something you wanted to do then you would support someone else next time around. And as you said "but for the most part he, they and me desire the same end point." Now what end point did the HOBOS desire for the boat ban? Not the same as those that lost the ability to use their boat on this lake! One class of boats getting banned makes it easier to take the next step and get something else banned and that may very well be a boat or PWC like the one you have, will you still say oh well they do not need to support us on the ban issue? Again the big boat ban does not affect me cause I don't own a big fast boat!

Would you support legislation that would permit me to anchor an aircraft carrier at chimney rock? what about a pt boat, i had one of those once.
or how about a surplus russian nuclear sub?
if I get these should the HOBO bash everybody until I can bring my Nantucket Navey to Port Peckerwood?

A neutral position will obviously affect individuals on both sides. They both can cry for lack of support. I have not heard of anyone complaining that the HOBO's did not outright publicly support the ban. On the contrary, LTL has stated that a Board member joined the lawsuit. Your side, in a once removed manner, did get a subtle HOBO endorsement......

With the carriers draft and length, you would not be able to get to most of the lake, so anchoring at the rock would make sense - please be polite and try not to block all of the Sun. As far as the sub - that would be a cool way to plunder beer... Let me know if you need help setting up the heavy lift aircraft to move it.

Carefull though Doc, feb and lakeman might start looking into having your lisence revoked, or at the very least, your posting priveledges suspended....lol.
