Nope, same here, I was talking to my daughter last night and mentioned to her how fast this summer is going by. I guess the gas price thing hasent really hit me either mainly because I havent had an oportunity to get out much. The last two times we did go out we got about 3 miles from the house and had to turn around because of storms. We planned to go out this past saturday , about the time we were ready to leave the bottom fell out. Sunday we didnt go out because we were supposed to have storms but we didnt at our house until late that afternoon. Hopefully I can go out a few evenings this week, it looks like more scattered thunder storms for this weekend. We got caught out in a storm last year , I have been gun shy ever since.

So true, I haven't been down river but 1 time this year. Last year we were there every other weekend. The gas thing is very noticeable if you go alot. $250 in one weekend if you stay on the water all weekend. When I bought my house nearly 5 years ago $100 was the most I'd ever spent in one weekend on gas. Three weeks till school starts back---BUT, 44 more days until FOOTBALL season.

ROLL TIDE ROLL..

Cant wait till football.......Been working on a entertainment area in our basement and should be through a couple of weeks before kickoff..........

Gas has been a PIMA every time i fill up but it just seems like i am busier this year and dont get as much water time as i did last year. It was colder longer this year. Last year we were enjoying the lake at the end of FEB and by Mem Day had been out 8+ weekends,,,,,,Seems like we were only out 2-3 this year........

We still need to get everyone out for a party somewhere.

Early season football weekends at the lake are great, especially if there is still water. Last year wasn't possible, but I love playing on the lake on a football saturday with no traffic and then crashing to watch alabama or auburn or whatever good SEC game is on.

Did I hear party ? get everyone together ? I have metioned that several times but as it turns out I always miss what I planned.. But I am glad that some of you other guys have met and chatted in person. Clear creek marina has the best fried okra, you may have to ask for it, it was ommitted on the menu when it was revised.
Additionally a dog turned up there over the long weekend that appears to have had some sort of surgery. Its a lab that has a tube run into its chest cavity. call the marina if you know something about this dog. I think he said it showed up the night of the fireworks. call the marina for details

Yeah, somebody had to mention football and spoil the thread, lol. I have the best job in the world, video engineer for ESPN's College Gameday Show, football and basketball. I work during those seasons and take off for 5 months, April thru August. So all this talk is just a reminder for me that I have to go to soon.
Our first show happens to be Alabama/ Clemson, Our set will be set up in Centennial Park. Anyone here interested in seeing what it takes to put on the show? Let me know and I can make it happen, and introduce you to the guys, Lee, Chris and Kirk.
But give a guy a break, I still have some vacation left and don't want to think about work, The hardest part of going back to work is being away from the lake.

Do you do tile work on the side when not "working" sporting events?

Hey Fr8, you tilin' your basement. I finished mine 2 months ago. About 900 sq. ft.. It's tedious work, but easy and if you do it yourself you save huge dinero. Flooring company quote for my job was $6100 for material and labor. I did it for about $2500. That is if you have the time to do it. Now the wife wants more done upstairs and I dread it..

No we have been on a ordeal to recreate our house and it just past its second full year.

we had dryvit on the house and had so much trouble we bricked it, then made a disfunctional backyard functional and now we are finishing out a basement and we are about 75% through......

We have promised this would be the last thing but she keeps metioning the kitchen cabinets...............It may never end........

Learned a long time ago. And you saw the color my house is now. Guess who won that battle?

"As you wish, dear"

and

"you're not only right...but beautiful"

Good luck and probably most importantly...

Peace,

MovinFr8, yes I do tile work and minor home maintenance on my off season. Living on the lake, and somewhere around 70% of the homes are second homes, there's always something that needs to be done that homeowners either don't have the time, knowledge, or the motivation to do themselves, I help where I can. I hope your tile job I looked at came out well.
I also own a company called Spider-Be-Gone that is an automatic spray system that is installed around the eve of the home that eliminates the spiders and other insects that most lake house owners are familiar with. I don't advertise as I have enough business from word of mouth (the best advertisement). But having a background in home building, I have been asked to do a little bit of everything when it comes to comprehensive home repair and maintenance. Gotta do something to get out of the house while on my time off from ESPN.

Dave,

Let's hear more about this spider thing. Website? Or just shoot me an email or something. I think I'm running spider summer camp.

You came out to my house and we talked about putting tile in a 8x10 area by my bar.......The ESPN comment made me wonder if it was the same guy.....

FYI,,,,,,, we still have not done anything yet.....

Trust me,,,,,,,,NO is not in my vocabulary...........but it is all my fault if it takes too long or cost too much or does not turn out the way she expected.......... Thats ok too,,,,,,,,,
