Is there a place locally to purchase those black "float drums" now being used on so many floating piers? I've got to do something to offer my boat better protection. I am looking at U-shapped floating pier vs four post lift. I have used mooring whips for 10 years, but they bit the dust on Sunday, as did the prop, etc. on my boat.

Found the cheapest price on the Internet several years back when I built my floating pier.
Only issue had to be home when the freight company delivered them.
See website below, cannot guarantee they are the cheapest today, but were about 4 years ago.
URL: EPS Floats

I bought mine at the Do-it in Eclectic. Price wasn't much different than the place Mav got his, and they delivered them at no charge. They usually have 4X4 floats in stock.
I'd still consider the lift. I had pontoon stress cracks last summer and the guy that welded them said he sees them all the time with pontoons that are kept in the water and are constantly subjected to wave action when tied up....he told me if I didn't get a lift, I'd be back again.

A new set of whips would be alot cheaper. Plus no APCO permit hassle.

So if one of them "floated" to my house, say as a result of a storm, and I posted that I had found a pier, then I could hang onto it indefinitely, and perhaps avoid need for permit. I like your thinking.

Try Russell Do-it center in Alex City - They were the cheapest I found and had several sizes in stock - be sure to ask for the plugs to go in the top as they sometimes forget to give these to you.

Mr. Dandy. I just put in my first boat in the water last weekend and am also looking for a pair of Whips. Can you email me and let me know what you are asking for these used whips? When you would be available for pick up on the weekend?

Now, PikeSki, this is not ebay. This is my thread and we can't get into a bidding war here. Just kidding...make a deal if you can. I am only missing one part of mine that crashed, and hopefully I can retrieve it from the bottom of the Lake.

Jim, I tried to email you but your email address on the forum appears to be down or invalid? I would like to discuss your whips when you have a minute. Please email me your new/updated email address.
