Wow! It seems it has been over 48 hours without a post. Has this ever happened before?

As for me it seems that things have gotten so bad and our current government so destructive to America that posting about it on the Forum almost trivializes the seriousness of the matter.  I am a very optimistic person but the last 18 months has taken much of it out of me.  I never thought in my lifetime I would see a government so out of control and so out of touch that they would pass legislation that will harm this country for decades.

I cannot tell you how many people have called me over the last 2 to 3 months to network, find out what we are doing, seeing if there is any opportunities, etc.  And I am now convinced it is only going to get worse, much worse.  Having been the purveyor of doom and gloom I will say that America has a chance to begin to change our course in November.  I hope that people will at least no longer say there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.  As imperfect as Republicans are we have now seen in all its glory what happens when the left wing nuts control the House, Senate and WH.  There is a difference......and it is a large difference that many Independents have figured out and are disavowing their votes in 2008.......many, but not all.......

I know......its all Bush's fault.  You know, objectively speaking if you look at the first six years of the Bush presidency when the GOP controlled the House and Senate and compare it to the last ~4 years where Dems controlled Congress and last 19 months when they also controlled the WH I think their argument about not wanting to go back to Bush years is simply an insane point to make.  Most Americans are now looking back fondly on the first six years of Bush as our salad days.  Ever since Dems took control of Congress things have gone in the toilet and the flushing accelerated when Obama/Biden were elected.  I actually hope they continue to make this point because when they do my response would be as follows:  Conditions up to when Dems took control of Congress:  Unemployment less than 6% versus 10% today, annual average deficits of $160B versus $1T today, stock market at 14,000 versus 10,000 today, etc., etc.  Yep, going back to the Bush years seems like a pretty good deal to someone not blinded by BDS.

I share MM thoughts ... I am honestly depressed by the state of the economy and the agenda of our clueless president.   I believe his goal is to overwhelm the economy and create a collapse ... no one can really be this stupid and careless what the american people are saying about his socialist agenda.   Just think about it. the more debt he creates, the more people out of work and depend on the government, his hopes is that they will not bite the hand feeding them.

I hope the american people what their freedom and opportunity more than the government subsidy and vote these destructive bozo's out of office in November to restrain the Obama agenda.

Don't call him a clueless president. He has a plan and he putting it into place at unbelievable pace.  You are dead on the money about overwhelming the economy. That is part of his big plan. Why does he push so hard for union jobs? Because if everyone goes union then everyone will the same amount of money. 30, 40, 50 bucks a hour is good money right now...but when everyone makes that, it will be like everyone is working for minimum wage.  He is one of these people that wants to live in America and reap all its benefits....buts also hates America and wants to destroy it. I've
never understood why these people dont just leave the US and go somewhere else.
Remember, he is the President that  has so little respect for our country that he cant wast the energy to salute the
flag. I think its time to get back to the basics that made America great, or divide it into 2 countries.

I don't see why anyone would want to sit around feeling depressed or looking backward. It's over and done, and we are where we are. It's not entirely the government's fault. In a way, our culture and our society has got us here. The big question for me is how we're going to bail ourselves out. Now that worries me. Everyone just wants things to "go back to the way they were" and that's not going to happen. Our paradigm has been shifted, but like the Swiss watchmakers, we're putting our head in the sand and trying to pretend that things will get back to "normal". Wishing and hoping is not going to get us out of where we are. Sitting around blaming the current Administration is not going to do that either. "Ain't it awful" never helps anything.

Gee Hound, after 8 years of blaming Bush for everything we now just need to accept the terrible direction that the country is going and don't blame the current administration.  I only wish the left could practice what they are currently preaching.  As I said in my earlier post a great many Independents are waking up to the mess being created by Obama/Reid/Pelosi.........but not all.  Keep holding on and fiddling while Rome burns.......

Learn from history.  Learn what made this nation the wealthiest on earth.  Learn that entrepreneurship unbridled by excessive regulation and taxation creates wealth, not only for the entrepreneur willing to take the risk and work the work, but for the employees and investors as well.  Learn that excessive government simply increase the tax and regulation burden and is counterproductive.  Learn that creating a taxpayer-paid government job is an overall negative for the economy.  Learn that this road we are on has been traveled by many in the past (and present) and is a DEAD END.  Learn to hold accountable those whose mistakes hurt us as a nation - present Administration especially included.

Lift the tax burden and make regulation sensible so the entrepreneur will be willing to take the risk.  Allow people to reap rewards based on constructive contribution rather than just because they were born.

You are the one with your head in the sand when you think that the answer is "it is what it is and just get over it".  There are many who don't agree with you.

It is awful but rather than "sitting around" we plan to hold those responsible accountable, starting this November.

Two quick quotes from Fran Tarkenton, one of the most intelligent NFL quarterbacks to play the game:

"Without the private sector there would be no Government"

"It is the small business entrepreneur that spurs job growth."

'Nuff said.  Hound if you disagree with those two statements you are a lost cause.

Pysco is on to something ... while it would never happen ... I wonder is we divided the country in half and all those that support Obama's socialist agenda, national healthcare, big government, lack of job creation, more regulation, higher taxes and redistribution of wealth go to the left side of the country .... everyone else that wants freedom, lower taxes, less regulation and smaller government focused on securing borders and national security, go to the right side ....

Gee ... which side would be asking for help from the other?

Seriously, which do you think?

We can not continue this way ... the problem with socialism, is you run out of people to take from and more and more wanting to take.   It has NEVER worked.  Every attempt has failed and it is brining our great country to failure as well.

The man is distructive and clueless.

Even Bernnake today said that based on current policy we will have unemployment about 7.5% for several more years with very weak growth.

His agenda is a FAILURE !!!!!   Many of us predicted it and unfortunately it is true.   Much much worse than Jimmy Carter .... the only thing we do not have yet is the high interest rates ... but that will come too.

-Well I guess those 48 hours without posts gave everyone a chance to rest, ...and now we're all back. -I have to agree with MM (as I do in most of his posts): we're all talked-out about all that the Obama administration is doing to socialize our country, ....but sometimes it seems no one can, or even wants to, do anything about it: ---the congress won't even read the bills they vote for, ...or vote against. It's just a party line vote. ---The press will not say anything negative about the administration or investigate the controversial issues. -It just seems that continuing to talk about the issues is not worth the effort because it doesn't change anything. But I believe it does chanage things, and that this change will be evident come November. ....from my lips to God's ear! PS: WW, your scenarion of separating the country into producers and non-producers is in fact the scenario of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, ...a great book in my opinion!

Unfortunately Bush is partially to blame for where this country is now. It's not like he balanced the budget and eliminated the national debt, and then Obama came in and ruined it all. It's been in ruin for a while now -- predating this Administration. But, why point fingers? It is where it is and my question is how do we move forward.

LEARN that how we got here is just exactly the things you listed. Not sure how you cannot see that. You must have your head in the sand. Plus a population who felt that they were "entitled" to have whatever they wanted and shouldn't be held accountable when they couldn't pay for it. Didn't you used to get about 10 credit card offers a week in the mail? I did. I threw mine in the trash, but others didn't. I bought a house I could afford, but others didn't. We let our jobs flow overseas, and we bought cheap Chinese and other overseas goods, because we didn't want to pay more for things made in the US. We allowed everything to become "self service", so we didn't need people to wait on us anymore. I'm still waiting for the "conservatives" to publish their plans to change the economy. So while you are voting in November, make sure you vote for someone with a real plan.

I have nothing more to say on this topic. Most of you can't even see that the policies of the last 8-15 years are what got us to this point. I only hope that your "Messiah's" that you plan to put into office, come into office with a real PLAN to change things, and not just reguritate those policies that got us here. But, to go back to my original statement -- Looking back and holding your head saying "ain't it awful" doesn't change a thing.

If you took time to do your homework you would realize that Fran Tarkenton is quite an intelligent person and successful entrepreneur who just happened to be a good athlete as well.  But no, you'd rather dismiss him just because of his chosen profession.

Your arrogance and dismissiveness is misplaced, but you will continue to think the rest of us are old fuddy-duddies.  We might be old, but fuddy-duddies we are not.  There is a lot of sage advice to be had and you are too bull-headed to heed it.

Gotta go do some real work.  This old fuddy-duddy just had another $60K thrown at him that he tried to talk the customer out of because he was already too busy - but because he is "living in the past" and not up on "the way it is now" and thinks he should provide quality work for a fair price, the customer demanded he do the work anyway.    Strange concept.......

Don't feel sorry for me because I don't suffer from invincible ignorance like you and the rest of the loony left.

The policies that got us to this point are predominantly if not almost exclusively the purview of Democrats.  That is a historical fact that has been proved over and over here and elsewhere.  Using the Orwellian tactic of telling a lie over and over again because eventually people will believe it is true will not work with intelligent, well informed people.  It will work with those that get their information from the government media or pMSNBS but not with most people.

It amazes me Hound that as millions of so-called Independents that voted for the Messiah are realizing their error and yet you continue to hold on.  Congress approval at 11%, GOP leading the generic ballot by 7%, Obama's PAI ranging from -17 to -21, his approval in the 40's and his approval with the very voters that got him elected in the 30's and yet you still defend, you still blame Bush, etc.  I just don't think you are capable of admitting you made a mistake......

I can't blame you for being done with this thread, I would retreat with tail tucked as well if I took the positions you take.

And I'm not sorry for how I voted. I'm sorry that things are such a mess. Like you, I hope they get better. Our point of disagreement is how that will happen.

OK, I only said that because you said you were done with this thread.  I continue to be amazed at your insistence that Obama was the right choice.  Over time all that will be left of his supporters will be you and the loony left who actually like what he is doing.

I also hope things get better and I suspect that you and I agree about what needs to be done a lot more than we disagree......it's just that I recognize that the current cast of clowns (Obama/Reid/Pelosi) not only don't know what the right thing is but if they did they are so ideological that they wouldn't do it no matter how much it hurts the country.  That is why they must be consigned to the ash heap of history like the worthless ones Jimmy Carter, Tom Daschle, etc.
