Is there a standard rule about not building more than 1/3 accross the slough? if so... if a slough was 60' could you build a 12' boat slip? or would they just say, well it's a small slough we really don't want to you have a slip for your boat. APC shoreline management need to have a set of codes they have to follow as well as us. after all I saw the two story boathouse with a full dance hall on the second floor that they did not even issue a permit for but then allowed to stay once it was brought to their attention. I saw the code that said a boathouse can only have one wall..... if anyone know's the answer to this please let us know.

The 1/3 rule is to allow passage. If you and the folks across the way build a dock that takes 1/3 of the slough, there is still 1/3 left for folks to get through.....makes sense to me.

Me too, We asked the inspectors could we build this and they took all the paper work and cashed our check and then
two weeks later sent us an email and said well we think the slough is just too small you will need to get your neighbors approval...Our Neighbors are not at all friendly people..I just think there should be less case by case basis and more standard rules...We are simply trying to get a little cover for our boat so we can save $250.00 a month from River North marina storage fee's

Thanks for the link. They have me on the with less than 100' of shoreline may not be allowed. that is too broad.

It is not fair, many lot owners have gotten away with everthing while a owner 1/4 mile away is denied everything. I have seen piers way too long allowed to stand, I have seen boathouses that far exceed the limits allowed to stand, I have seen boathouses constructed at huge size and height that completely block the views of others downshore yet they still stand and most of this has been done in the last ten years.

Well I can tell you if you have to ask this question then you are about to loose the friendship will all of your neighbors. My neighbors all had docks and I did not. I built an very average one with a permit and approval of APC. All the neighbors went ballistic!
