Why all gun sales or transfers should require  a FBI background  check. It is not a 2nd Amendment issue....it is a common sense issue.

"ST. LOUIS (AP) — The 19-year-old gunman who forced his way into a St. Louis school and killed two people purchased the AR-15-style rifle from a private seller after an FBI background check stopped him from buying a weapon from a licensed dealer, police said Thursday.

Orlando Harris tried to buy a firearm from a licensed dealer in nearby St. Charles, Missouri, on Oct. 8, St. Louis police said in a news release Thursday evening. An FBI background check “successfully blocked this sale,” police said, though they didn’t say why the sale was blocked. A message seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned.

Harris then bought the rifle used in the school shooting on Monday at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School from a private seller who had purchased it legally in 2020, police said."

He also  had 600  rounds and close to a dozen  high capacity magazines.

Is that his parents knew he was a danger and suffered from mental illness.  They got him all the help they could and went so far as to have the police remove a weapon from him in the recent past.  The problem is that even when the parents knew that he was ill, there was only so much that they could do - 

I happen to agree with you that all gun sales should be subject to a background check, but having said that, I don't know how you would enforce it, until a tragedy happens as a result of private gun sale. Just look at Chicago and Baltimore.

Great point Goofy, a guy that plans to shoot up a school would have been stopped if only we change some law!!! /sarc  How do you think criminals with felony records that aren't able to legally buy guns get them?  They buy illegal guns.  The only people that will obey this law are the people that don't plan to commit mass murder.  The ones that are willing to break a law like murder will clearly not be swayed by some lesser law.  The idiocy of the left on guns is beyond incomprehensible.  Murder is illegal and criminals will be stopped in their tracks because of a law......sheesh!!!

Your solution is atypical...reduce taxes on the rich and it will solve the gun problem. Maybe, a 25 year minimum sentence for any crime using a gun and 25 minimum sentence for any one selling a gun to someone without a permit  card from the  sheriff's office to purchase a firearm.

When did I mention reducing taxes on the rich to solve the problem of gun crime?  Hint, never.....you just made it up like most things you say.  You really don't get it.  You keep looking to more laws (gun control) to try to stop people who break even more serious laws (murder).  Someone willing to commit the heinous crime of murder is not even gonna get slowed down by a gun control law.  That my crazed leftist friend is pure common sense......something mutually exclusive from leftists.

You have fallen for the false premise that the problem is an inanimate object.  We have always had guns in this country in abundance and without the kind of violence we are seeing today.  Heck, kids would have them in their cars when they drove to school. A person with a modicum of common sense and the ability to reason would understand this.

The problem is ourculture, not the gun.  No amount of new laws are going to fix the problem of violence.  Leftists can never come to grips with the real issue so they have to fall back into their usual SOP of doubling down on things that don't work because all that matters is that they can claim to mean well.....not that they do anything positive.  On top of that much of the cultural rot comes from the left out of their hostility toward faith and the family.  They embrace the culture of death, attack people who believe in Judeo-Christian values, have destroyed our education system in favor of left wing indocrination, have destroyed the family, embraced every sexual perversion known to man and so on.  Like a alcoholic, the first step to recovery is for leftists to admit they have a problem......which I know will never happen for the vast majority of them as they have lost the ability to think critically using facts, logic and reason.

Personally for murder or sex crimes involving children once they are found guilty and appeals process runs out - I say hang them in gibbets down main street for the bugs and buzzards to eat - they have already proven they are not human and deserve to be treated as the monsters they are.

You get rid of the monsters, and some may decide not to based on seeing the punishment.

Other option could be that they volunteer as targets at the local shooting range.
