It's a public lake.....people can do whatever they want to.
What's a little generator noise.....can't be any worse than all the howling going on at Karaoke.

We used to have pristine shores also......that doesn't matter......it's the noise and the weekenders that matter.....in other words.....$$$$$.

Is every issue always related back to CHuck's for you?!?!?!? Yes it's all about $$$$ and the value of my property is steadily going down if this keeps up. I tried to sit on my front porch this morning and have a cup of coffee in the swing with my best friend and we could not even have a conversation. It used to be so peaceful down here and now it is awful!
We will solve this if we have to each rent a slip next year and let it sit empty!!!!

I am one of the people that took Chuck's to court.
I love people, am VERY social, I love music and have been playing rock n roll as a guitarist since 1974 and I still play. I am just respectful of where I play.....such as night clubs.....not neighborhoods.
I was just stating to you that I can understand your situation over there quite well.
The Chuck's howlers just hate it when I mention it though and love to attempt to demonize anyone that likes their neighborhood to be a NORMAL one. Not an outdoor talent search stage. : D
I can guarantee you now, that all of these Chuck's supporters that don't live here.....that an outdoor karaoke park in THEIR neighborhood would not fly. : D
That's why they like to come here....because they don't have to deal with it in their own neighborhoods. : D Then, they use the LAKE word as an excuse, calling it PUBLIC....and therefore....we have no say so...even though we live here. : D
I couldn't stand those generators in your area either.....The bad thing is though......you can't separate generators and karaoke.....so ALL of the noise will be hard to stop. It's ALL noise anyway.

Property Owners have rights to protect the value of their investments. I live in Alex. City in the city limits and have a lake house at BayPine. I don't want to see either neighborhood be trashed up.
I can respect the marina's wanting to make money - no problem. As a matter of fact i have always enjoyed being near the Marina at Baypine. When it was purchased - the owner starting making very nice improvements. The BarBQue and new docks built and i was glad to see the improvements. Renting our boat slips to homemade house boats and allowing 15-20 residents on each one move in like it is a camping facility is hurting the marina's appeal to people. It is a bad decision for the marina's value.
I rent my house out to vacationers at the lake and i always require them to obey some rules - such as being considerate of neighbors by keeping the noise down and limiting the number of guests at a time etc...
Well even the tennants have complained about the houseboats and the generators running.
I mean anybody could pull a boat up to the water right out front of anybodys house and anchor down and fish - play loud radios - be obnoxious and not care about other people feelings - BUT MOST PEOPLE HAVE BETTER SENSE THAN THAT.
People should just be considerate of others on the Lake just like any other neighborhood.

Good for you.....you are like most of us. We respect each other and try to be good neighbors.
It sounds like you guys have a very similar problem that we have here at the Chuck's marina area.
Self centered people...that couldn't care less about the other neighbors...as long as they are having fun and the marina is making $$$$$.
It's sad.....but that's the way it is.
It started the same way around here too.
There were nice improvements made to the marina.....and everyone liked it.....then the LOUD KARAKE began....and it went down hill from there.
Let me know if you come up with a better solution than we did.
We're still working on it.....4 years later.

Is it just the noise that is bothering you or the boats themselves? If the bathroom facilities are done properly and not disposed of in an unsanitary manner. (This would be my biggest concern. Kinda disgusting if put in lake, comes right by me!!!) Maybe you could suggest to marina to have power ran to each boat slip ????

All rednecks are expert at circumventing the law.
All shores should remain pristene (except where your house sits, development is fine there, cuz it is YOURS, and you want peace and quiet so that makes YOUR development is OK).
You can know someones 'habits' by reading their posts.
Weekenders should have less 'rights' than fulltimers.
Only fulltimers opinions matter.
Weekenders have less repect for the lake than fulltimers.
Weekenders dont appreciate the lake as much as fulltimers.

Never said I knew you.....nor did I say that Weekend Lake home owners are less important than we full timers. You said that.....I didn't.
But at the same time......You guys can stay away when you want to...go home when you're thru hanging out at your weekend home.
We don't have that privilege.....we're stuck here.....we can't get away from it. We live here full time and have to endure what ever is dealt out to us.
There's a big difference there.

Sure....any structural improvement is great....be it yours or my house or the marina.....but it's the NOISE factor that is causing the degradation here in our slough.

He!!, in that case you are the lucky one. Given that we are only able to be there on weekends, we never get a chance to enjoy the peace and quiet. We have to pack up and leave on Sunday after those awful noisey weekends and leave the peaceful weekdays to you fulltimers. I feel I am being discriminated against and, as such, would like to start a petition that states all noise, including karaoke, should be confined to weekdays. Do I have any backers out there?

I think CEO's last post was excellent. It rehashed all of the BS that you have been throwing around for the last couple of months. I thought that once the judge handed down his decision you would hush about it. I also thought that once it was brought to your attention that an overwhelming majority of the people that post on this board have little or no respect for your Chuck's banter, you would stop. I also thought that directly asking you to stop would encourage you to. . .well, STOP. It hasnt happened. It also doesn matter what the so called majority says......there is a certain amount of respect to be given in any neighborhood to all.
Our neighborhood was never designed to be PARTY CENTRAL on the weekends at the 1 lone business here.....it was a neighborhood first and will be a neighborhood last.....as it was meant to be.
It was never a problem from the 1960's up until about 4 years ago.....and that is not right.
In the end.....you'll have to find a new play ground.....how about YOUR back yard?! : D

As a suggestion, find out where CEO, Lamont, the college kid, and your other critics live -- load up your 400 amp amplifier, mic, and guitar and anchor in front of their pier --AND CRANK IT UP about 10pm until 2am... right about the time they want to relax a little. Be sure to tune your axe a little out of tune and sing flat... LOL!!! When it's in their backyard, perhaps they will understand a little bit better what your position is. Heck it may even be fun... ;-)
But IMHO I wouldn't count on much understanding if you don't have it already. This isn't about weekenders vs fulltimers, it's about population density and the changes it brings.

Chazz, have I ever even offered an opinion on Chucks and Kareoke in general? Do any of you even know if I have ever been there? You need to go back and check my posts before you throw me in the middle of this Chucks debate. As far as loading up some amps in front of my dock, feel free. My kids music is so loud inside, I won't hear it. In addition, depending on what you are playing, I might prefer it compared to what my kids are playing. If so, I will step outside with a cold one and enjoy!

You're right....we thought about whipping out the 4000 watt system and blast them so loudly that they couldn't even hear themselves sing.
We talked about doing that for the last 4 years...myself and my neighbors all talked about doing that.
BUT......THAT WOULD MAKE ME JUST LIKE THEM. : (
That is something I chose not to be.......FOR SURE.
Good thought though.
We used to have big parties 2 times per year.....and everyone was ok.
We were ok with 1 time per month karaoke......we would even go down there......it's just too much now.......that is what the whole lawsuit was about.......abuse.

Besides the marina getting blasted.....the one that would catch it the worst would be the Old Boy Scout Camp house........Would that be fair to them even though they are pro karaoke? NO.

Well....we tried to split the time in half.....we even offered more than 50%.
But they turned it down.
Don't know what else we could've done.
We did come to an agreement back in October at mandatory mediation.
But in January or February.....they backed out of it.
We weren't left with any choice but to continue the lawsuit.
But I agree with you.....an agreement would've been the best scenario.

Funny how you don't mention the other request made at mediation. Things like monetary compensation, security lights turned off, etc. Maybe you shouldn't have been so demanding at mediation and it would have gone better. All of the neighbors have heard your once or twice a year parties that went on until 2:00am and later. As far as I know, not one of us ever called the sheriff or complained. You're noise is okay, right? Your only complaint when karaoke started was that it didn't go on later. As time has gone by it has turned into more of a family gathering place. Not a local bar. Maybe that's what you don't like about it. All that "dog howling" you say you heard Saturday was children. Lots of them! Maybe their voices aren't celebrity material to you but to their families listening and watching them is was. I'm getting the impression that this is a personal attack of your's against Greg himself. I don't think it would matter what he did at the marina, you'd still complain about it. Next Saturday why don't you dust off the boat and take a 3 hour moonlight ride. It might do you some good to get out on the lake for a while.

Sure seems personal to me too lakelady. He has NEVER mentioned all the 'other' issues. It doesn't surprise me that he wanted money, he is quick to cite how expensive it is to own property here, maybe he needs an offset.
I, for one, am just plain sick of hearing his whining incessantly about the matter. If anyone is that unhappy where they live, they should just sell and move on. That is what the ORIGINAL complainer did. If he has been there as long as he says, he should be albe to make a tidy profit. Then he could move to one of the areas of the lake that is 'more pristine'.
And let me make your argument for you stratman, it is a neighborhood. The neighborhood was there first. It is EVERY weekend, blah blah blah. First off, you have stated here that you have been here 14 years. The marina long pre-dates you. It was there when you bought. It was a commercial venture when you bought, you should have considered ramifications at that time.
FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN, MOVE ON!!! I dont know what the real issue is, I dont care!! But you are making no allies here. I stayed out of this for a long time because like most of us here, I didnt have a dog in this fight. But you have ranted and raved till I feel like I do.

You're thinking is what got me involved in this before it ever went to court. The marina was there long before those complaining. They knew they were buying a residence close to a business. Anyone wanting to stay in business tries to do what they can that will keep the customers coming. There are a lot of places on the lake that aren't close to any business. The choice was theirs to buy where they did. Now it's an all out attack against the marina. Greg is a very nice person and runs a good business. He tries to do whatever he can to help people out, whether they live in the neighborhood or not. He works hard to keep out trouble people on weekends and it's showing. Families are packing the place on the weekends. I think that's a good thing. There's already enough of the other places where you can't take your kids.

Gregs daughter. She got her dad to go to their home and make a pot of coffee for me. That is customer service. That is why he does good business. He also had very nice things to say about you and others in the neighborhood. It seems to me that the REAL nuisance in the neighborhood is Stratman. We get out on the lake all the time!! :D I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. : D We don't always take our boat.....we'll go with someone else.
Why don't you go take a ride at night....every weekend. :D What....are we supposed to leave our home every Friday and Saturday just so you guys can have your talent search? That is hilarious at best!! : D
Parties.....yeah.......1 or 2 times per entire year. Most of the times....the neighbors were over here with us. Besides that.....that stuff only lasted during the time my daughter was in college anyway. But there is a big difference between 1 or 2 times per year.....and then every weekend.....6 months of the year. : D
Yes......we asked for a monetary settlement. That's what you do when you can't reach an agreement with someone.....you go to court to make them think twice about all the disturbance they cause. Kind of like a car ticket. You slow down after you get one.....right? : D
We knew the whole time that there would be no monetary settlement from a judge....if that makes you feel better. It's just a deterrent.
We people that have been here for a lot of years have never had a problem with each individual home having their parties. NEVER!!
It's just the out of control nonsense at the marina that is WAY OVERBOARD.
So rant all you want......and try to paint us as old coggers or whatever. I tell the truth of the matter.
So ask me anything about the court case you may want to know. I have no problem with it. It is a matter of public knowledge anyway. There is nothing private about it. You may not like the truth though. : D
WE didn't back out of the October agreement.....they did...3-4 months later. And that agreement included NO monetary settlement what so ever.
It just devided up the times of karaoke.

When in court.....we asked for a monetary settlement for lawyer and court costs. Wouldn't you? Of course you would.

Glad you got to meet Greg and his daughter. Now you can understand why the neighbors get riled over the bashing he's getting on this board. If you ever get to meet his mom, you'll see why he's such a nice guy. She is so sweet! As far as Stratman being a nuisance to the neighborhood, it's actually not. It's just on this board where he's a real nuisance. I really don't care whether he stays or goes from the neighborhood. I just hate it when someone tries to berate an undeserving person. We have great neighbors all around us and can't think of any other place on the lake I'd rather be.

I have not belittled anyone at the marina......We're just trying to do something about the noise.
You are the one insinuating that we have a problem with people at the marina.....not us.
It's the actions at the marina we have a problem with......not a person.
I know the marina owner and both of his kids personally. I don't have a problem with either of them. They are not in a decision making position in the first place. Never have been.

Plaintiff or defendant, now that's silly.
If I was a plaintiff that would mean I am on your side, which I'm not.
If I was a defendant it would mean that I'm owner of Chuck's Marina, which I'm not.
I was involved with the court case though, start to finish. Made sure of it after you and the other plaintiffs started sending out the absurd letters to the neighbors.

That you think you know more about the case than myself or the marina owner does......which you don't.
When you make a post that was untrue.....such as the post where you attempted to say that we asked for money in the mediation....
....Which is completely untrue.......then I pointed that out.
Restitution was part of the court case.......NOT the mediation.
The terms of the mediation were agreed upon in October......and then backed out of in January or February by the marina owner. NOT US.
And there was NO money involved in the mediation.....simply when and when not that karaoke was to take place.
Yes.....we did ask for the ALIEN SPACE SHIP lights to be turned out on non karaoke nights. They light up our whole area. It's rediculous.
That was my point.

Not once have I stated that I know more about the case than you or anyone else involved. In my "attempt" at saying the plaintiffs asked for money I didn't refer to whether it was at mediation or not. Didn't matter since the judge dismissed it. Unless you've forgotten there are a lot of boats stored behind the marina, thus the need for security lights. There are a lot of trees between the water and the storage buildings. There is also land, a cabin and more trees between them and you. Explain to me how the lights light up your whole area. That spin don't fly with me!

Those boats have been there the whole time......the lights haven't until the party deck started getting bigger......the crowds starting getting huge...around 200+......which meant he had to expand car parking in that area......which is where the BIG LIGHTS are located at.......which lights up our area of the slough.
Hey.....call me silly......but I kind of liked seeing the stars before the lights went up. : D
Also......I never said that you STATED that you knew more......I said that you acted like you did and made and incorrect statement. That was all.
Money was not part of the mediation.....and that's what you stated in your post.

I want even respond to anymore of his rants. He is obviuosly irrational. Let him pursue his 'zoning laws' and annexation into Dadeville. Better yet, I hope he runs for office so as to effect change from within. I will even donate to his campaign. You are right CEO. It's a waste of time posting to him because he half reads it and then makes of it what he wants. Hope he learns to read before he runs for any office. Once we're annexed into Dadeville maybe Chuck's could open an elementary school so the kids won't have such a long bus ride.
