This is a response I just provided another Forum Member. It is burried so far down that I thought it would not be seen. Too bad our post can't recirculate to the top of the board like many other Forums. It was a response to a criticism of our next generation. Here it is:

"We sure are a fine generation to be judging the generation that we raised. I think our parents probably far surpassed our generation in a lot of categories. I personally think we have things in a pickle. Appears to be more and more things broken in society and the world these days. Our Southern borders are just highways for the immigration of illegals from South America and Mexico. Have we or are we doing anything about it? I want go into all the things that I see wrong or feel bad about. Just look at what our generation has done to the National Debt, and that is what we are leaving to the next generation. We feel great that we only put the Country in the Red another three hundred and fifty plus billion this year alone. "Oh it was less than we were expecting it to be."

I guess the bottom line is that the next generation is the generation that we raised or allowed to infilitrate here. If anyone is to blame then we can look in the mirror.

I will add that I have met some mighty fine young people in the past few years. They are out there and probably in greater numbers than the opposite."

i know your not talking about me but i still think that regardless of how a person is brought up it is up to them to take there life into there own hands and make something of themselves to many of my piers blame their problems on their parents, thats just my point of view, thought it might be interesting to have a young perspective

Thank you, and I respect your view point. I think it is much tougher to play a good hand of poker when you are given bad cards. Bad cards equates to a sub-standard upbringing. I also recognize there are some that take a great hand and miss play it.

But look at the odds and the numbers. Generally a good hand (good upbringing) wins. Some say a good hand may of been something applied to the posterior.

First, I think it is pretty poor to be judging others. We all do it. Secondly, I think my point was to BenJammin in that we are responsible for what we create and not placing that responsibility upon what we created.

Generally it is our responsibility to give you the opportunity, and then your responsibility to grasp it and make the best of it. Sucess is when the product of our effort achieves more that we ever did or thought possible of accomplishing.

I guess that was a motivational speech, and I need to get off my soap box.

i couldnt agree more but our parents were young once and im sure they had their problems with their parents sooner or later someone has to take responceabilty for themselves and over come their issues

I dont think jr's worried about finding his @ss right now.... it's Jim's @ss he wants to find. Wonder why Jim didn't post his real name and address like Jr did? This is killing me... Feb, you are wise.

Feb - you are a very wise person. And eloquent.

I just joined this group about 2 weeks ago, although owning at Lake Martin for 4 1/2 years. I thought I recognized this JIM, as I know another JIM on the lake with the same acid tongue. I'm getting out of the way!

On this forum, Jim has proved himself to be not too good at thinkin'....... But he often quotes his daddy and others, and sometimes "says it how he sees it"...... which obviously isn't too clear. Alcohol? Drugs? Brain damage? Ignorance? Plain stupidity? Attempt to be clever? ........It’s hard to know for sure.

You MAY just have the right "Jim".
Who knows where he lerks,...truthfully.
I wonder if he's as outspoken in person as he is as an "alias".
:-/ Hummmmmmmm,.....makes me wonder.

where did sally go? Did I miss her getting voted off the island or something? Oh, I know, A CAT got her tongue. I wonder what Sally and Jims kids would be like?

p.s. Jr... did you ever find your @ss after JIM handed it to you?

JIM has been on the Forum for a long time. He has made some excellent post at times, so - so post at other times, and his share of post like some of the rest of us have that well maybe we should of considered not hitting the send key. I have never personally met JIM, but it seems there are other Forum member that know him and seem to respect the man. He has at least revealed a little of himself that kind of gives you a feel for his character and his attitudes. There are others of the Forum that you will never get to know that well. From my reading of Jim's post over the years, I do not see the man behind the post as being evil or sinister. He may have a few character defects such as abrupt, somewhat judgemental and quick to speak out. Don't know that those are all that terrible since I am also guilty at times. I see JIM as probably an honest working man that has had to make it through life on his on volition and hard work. He has at least one son that is an Officer on the Atlanta Police Force that I know Jim is most proud. Bet he would be one of the first members of the Forum that would pull over and help a stranger on the side of the rode change a flat tire. Jim had a place on the Lake that he parted with. I think he is possibly looking to obtain another place. Don't think I would mind him as a neighbor.

JMHO of JIM from reading his post for several years. If I Pi$$ed him off with this post, then it want be the first time, and I will stay in Virginia or hidden up Oakachoy creek somewhere so he want be able to find my a$$..

I agree that occasionally Jim does have a reasonable opinion. Sometimes, he even expresses himself in a reasonable manner and he probably was/is a hard working guy.

That being said, he is also quick to judge others, puts people down on a regular basis, and gives little consideration to opinions that do not match his own; he is also down right mean more often than not. I would not want to have him as a neighbor unless his real persona is far different from that he exhibits online (which I doubt). Considering his posts about fools and money, I guess I’ll be a safe fool from such a fate in my neighborhood of fools.

Ooooooohh! "A CAT got her tongue!" Why CATBOAT, you are soooooooo clever! Why, I'll bet you didn't have to think more than three or four hours before coming up with that one! And you even spelled "tongue" correctly! Did your mommy help you look it up in the dictionary? (You know, the dictionary; it's that thick book you use as a stool when they let you sit at the big-boy table.)

I don't know if I can keep up with you. Behind all of the misspellings, horrendous grammar, baffling logic, conceit, egocetricism, rudeness, and utter disregard for the concerns of others, there's a double-digit IQ that I'm not sure I can stoop to reach. So if it's all the same to you, I'll just continue to ignore your illiterate "look at me!" posts and concentrate on those that show some insight, judgement and education, okay? (And don't be afraid to have someone explain the big words to you; I wouldn't want you to be any more confused than you already are.)

She knows, and she is showing you just how much. She is winning Sir. Now what might be fun is a fifteen hundred word paper on a subject other than "Go Fast Boats" that she can grade you on. Then when you get an A+ after maybe fifty attempts with my help (I will ensure failure although trying hard at least 50% of the time) you can give her a test on a boat repair project. Once again I will help and provide the boat. You will then be able to give her an A+ only after Sally has competed the repairs to your grading standards (I will assist there also).

Folks this is an up and aboard Boad Forum challenge.

The following is hidden from Sally and Cat Boat: My boat does need some repairs.

Opened back up to all Forum members: Now if we can only find a sponsor(s) and a TV station that will take on this fun Challenge? I could get my boat fixed. It is a classic and would look beautiful when restored.

Hey, I would make a charitable contribution at the Silver Mark Level of $500.00 with other contributions from folks richer than me (tax deductible) at the gold to platinum levels. Hey RR, we need you to Public Relations this and find a good charity. You may use my 1967 Rolls Royce (RR) to hype things. I know you are not near 67 yet so we will use different tags (wink - wink). JIM we need you as the Treasure. Sorry, You will have to use my 1998 Ford F-150 only if you put gas in it. Might need a police escort with all the money.

Miller Jr. my man, at your size you can choose your own effort to support. It will just be nice to know that we have your young age and weight behind it.

Lakeman - You can, with the guarded advice of RR, be the Charity spokesperson. We might also have to call lakebum out of retirement.

I have left out a whole lot of others that would keep this effort from sinking.

If nothing else, I hope you have found this post amusing. Life is just too dang short not to have some fun with it.

I dont repair boats for a living. I only repair boats as a hobby. If it dont make lots of noise, and go fast, I am not going to work on it. Unless it is buddies boat. (you are buddy by the way). I am a car dealer. Not a boat mechanic. we need to make some other test for Sally. (I think her test should be sitting down with me and talking at the lake).>>>I have an idea, and i will post it soon. I say we meet for last big weekend of summer at chucks for pizza and fun. maybe around noon or so on saturday. you all be thinking about it, and lets; see what we can figure out. By the way, did Jr. ever find his @ss?

Sally, for someone with such impeccable spelling skills, you sure did leave yourself open for correction. Didn't you mean "egocentrism", rather than "egocetricism"? Furthermore, I believe "egocentricity" would have been the better grammatical choice in that sentence. Let us try not to belittle others on this board for something as petty as a few misspells here and there.

No Problem babyboy. OOOOOPs!

No offense toward you babygirl.

Actually, I think as Southern Gentlemen, we should stop any reference to Sally's posterior. She deserves much more respect. That is if she or babygirl either are of the female gender. They could be hiding behind skirts or in this day and age pants. I think the thread kind of got distracted from the original intention.

I think at this point Cat Boat will find that a minor burr in his posterior after Sally's reeming.

Cat Boat, I do not have reference to a qualified local proctologist (@$$ Doctor), but please let us know how you make out. I know you can take a joke with no offense intended. I don't go there.
