I read that the 40 year old woman killed on the PWC a few weeks ago hit a boat dock in Sandy Creek area. Does anyone know which dock/exactly what part of Sandy Creek? Just curious since I ride my PWC in that area.

I heard it was the house which sit high on the point (sort of oriental style with the large cascading waterfall over the front of the retaining wall.
But do not know for sure, this was just hearsay per a neighbor.

yes, go by that house all the time --basically on the opposite side of lake from Smith Mountain. If I recall the dock is not on the main channel, but just around the corner in cove. Must have been distracted by something for that to happen.

I heard that she had a dog on the PWC and it fell off. In the aftermath of that, she got distracted and hit the dock? Just what I heard from a local volunteer fire fighter.

I did not know that and can certainly get a better appreciation, but she should of been going very slowly it that happened. I would of been creeping along to help my dog. Sorry for the loss of human life. How is the dog or is that just bogus?

The dock she hit was not the house with waterfall. If you are coming into sandy from the river go by the house with watefall to where you turn right to go to maxwell rec. There is a fairly new house on a lot that was graded level(big hill behind). Two story house with Auburn flag out on the point. The lady hit a board walk on the side toward maxwell.

That would have to be real close to us--we were on the dock that day and heard the sirens on 34, but had no idea it was close to us. What road was the house on?

The accident happened in a slough east of the waterfall house but before you get to the turn to go to Max. Gunter. The dog was killed in the accident and was found under a nearby pier.

Big Foot, thanks for the info. There is a slough between us and the 'waterfall house', so that makes sense. Didn't know that a dog was involved....hopefully everyone has learned something from this tragic accident.
