I heard a salvage group was taking timber from the bottom of the lake. These trees were tied down to the bottom when the lake was constructed.

Any truth to this?

I know when the lake was filled that they left everything that was there including logging trucks with logs still on the truck, road signs, houses, ect.

True enough that structures and what not were left when they were going to be in deep enough water, but that had to be VERY deep. The 50ft draw down would have exposed most structures, hence they were burned in place. As for 'log trucks' and 'street signs', not so sure either existed in 1925. The logging was done with horses and mules and floated to one of several sawmills bult for the exclusive use of building the dam. What was deemed to far away, or simply excess was bundled and chained to the (future) lake bed.

And yes, there is a company now liscenced to salvage the 'heart pine' that was left behind.
