Does anyone have luck with a casting net in getting shad or by any other method? I would assume you can get them in the creeks. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Castnets work well but there are two things to remember. The first is that the water must be shallow enough for the net to hit the bottom or else you'll most of the shad. The other thing is that rocks and wood on the bottom will snag your net and rip it or you may lose it so be careful. Try finding schools on top of points or humps where the water is shallow. Another way is to target dock lights or set out your own light off your boat.

It's tough to get the shad in Martin. I prefer to go over to Logan Martin below the dam. You can get hundreds of them in 10 casts. While you're at it, if the hydraulics are running, throw a white fluke up in the whitewater and you'll catch a stripe or white bass about every third cast.

not to change the subject on catching shad. but, is there a place you can buy them?
