I don't see any raeson why not, except it maybe hard to find a place to turn it around.

Not really, with todays propulsion systems they can turn around in their own footprint.

I don't think that ship's footprint would even fit in Lake Martin.

I must say, Fincantieri builds some great ships. They built the Disney Cruise Line ships and the attention to detail is amazing on those. Of course, Disney is known for that as well.

FYI:

They use 44,000 HP electric motors to drive the screws and 5 diesel engines (total of around 77,000HP) for electric power generation.
