What is wrong with Drill Baby Drill, or Drill Here Drill Now. Why do you support someone who wants to support countries that look to do us harm?? Try a little research this time and give me an intellegent answer on that question. And don't give me any crap about alternatives, because I think we need to put alot more money into research of cleaner fuels. I just want to know why it is so wrong to drill for our own oil in the meantime??

I know you are asking hound and I agree we should be drilling .... but now that the price of oil is down you are seeing what happened so many times in the past .... congress feels the pressure is off and we do not need to address now. Why do something today that you can put off until tomorrow. When oil was $150 a barrel and $4 at the pump everyone was talking about it, alternative fuels, etc. Now that it is back below $2 and $55 a barrel we are not hearing any noise.

This is exactly the time we need to be exploring for more when demand is down. When demand is high we are at too great of a risk that one of the countries we import from will cut us off as leverage. It takes 5 years to bring meaningful new wells in to production, so what are we waiting for.

I have previously said that I support the drilling. So I'm not sure what you are talking about.
But, I still believe we need to pursue alternative engergy sources too. I'm interested in T.Boone Picken's plan.

I guess it is because we have labeled you a liberal and so when your party does not support something then you get thrown to the wolves. :)

Am I the only one or does it bug others to have to listen to T. Boone Pickens moralize about wind energy after he made billions off helping to addict us to oil? I liken it to my crack cocaine dealer now wanting to be my rehab counselor and get paid for it. The fact is Pickens invested billions in trying to buy water rights and that investment didn't do so well (at least not yet) and now he has turned his investment dollars to wind power. One thing for sure, regardless of his flowery rheotoric, he is in it for the money whether or not it is really good for America or not.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the capitalism but what he is trying to do is use political power and influening public opinion in order to distort the free markets to promote wind power over other forms of alternative energy. I just don't like being lectured to about what the public should demand regarding alternative energy sources by someone with a vested financial interest in one form or another.

I owe you an apology. I thought I remembered you criticizing Drill Baby Drill, but I took it out of context.

He says he is in his 80's and has al lthe money he will ever need, so he's in it because it is right. Maybe after you have so many billions, and you have a foot in the grave you turn philosophic.
Truthfully, I don't know a lot about alternative energy -- I'm not really a strong evironmentalist and I'm a little fed up with the marketing of "going green", so I am just in the stage where I'm taking it all in. I've been interested in hearing about these wind farms. And I'm still convinced we could do something with nuclear energy that would be safe. Surely with all the other places that have gone with nuclear energy there are lessons to be learned.

Pickens wants wind farms cuz he owns LOTS of flat land that is very conducive to wind farms. Don't get me wrong, I am all for them too, but they are not the 'save all' that he is saying they are. All coast lined should be taking advantage of both wind and wave action. but ther is now one solution to generating electricity because of nature of transmission of electrcity. I think we all know that power gets sold onto to 'the grid' to other areas, but these transfers are ususlly limited to 300 miles or less. Aver th at and the loss of voltage gets too great and it is not econmically feasible. Power generation and transmission is a local issues really. Take advantage of what ever resource an are has is my philosophy.

Hound, I have decided that you are a 'yellow dog democrat'. you keep posting more and more of your positions on the issues, and danged if you ain't an ole mean, nasty, evil, rich republican!!

Just in case you don't konw, a Yellow Dog Democrat is someone that would vote for a a 'yellow dog' if it was on the ticket before he would vote for a republican. I can't remeber with which politician the saying started.

I've heard the term before. But, that's not me. I voted for Obama, but I voted for many, many Republicans before. I even voted for George W. I certainly don't embrace all liberal issues. And as much as I love animals, PETA scares the heck out of me.
