One of the great freedoms that we enjoy in this country is the freedom to express our opinions without fear of incarceration or bodily injury. Protesters in Venezuela, TV stations, and the press have seen this previously enjoyed freedom erode under Chavez.

Likewise, in Russia, a millionaire Russian citizen is serving 8 years because he dared to criticize Putin. Iran is openly beating and jailing protesters. China does not tolerate dissent at all.

Why these comments since Americans do still enjoy freedom of speech? Some late incidents from the EPA over a violation of orders not to e mail, talk to the press, etc. resulted in reprimands. However, after the reprimands were exposed, the order was lifted.

There have been a few indications of late that this administration would love to curtail this freedom. Fox News was denied access to the President because of criticism of some of his administration's policies. Tea protesters were declared as thugs, etc. by the other parts of the media.

The Huntsville school system has gone so far as to contact a soldier's superiors to keep him from expressing his comments about dress code in a school attended by his children. The atmosphere became so bad that the parents felt that the safety of their children was being threatened.

School officials have continually denied these communication with military authorities on the arsenal. However, e mails released by the Arsenal confirmed that attempts were made to silence this individual.

Freedom of speech, gun ownership, freedom of the press, and a single party system could be eroded by this administration. A single party system in this country will be the first step toward a dictatorship. Is it possible that immigration reform and the sudden introduction of new Mexican voters will be the first step.

As I have said earlier in post to this forum, this country might be another Venezuela in 10 years with Obama being the new Chavez.

it is up Obama's back side.

and to GF ... I am not sure the sky is not falling. The sinking dollar, rising commodity prices, high unemployment and getting higher, higher taxes with a struggling economy, failed policies, pushing more socialist programs.

Why would you say the sky is not about to fall ... what do you (GF) see that Obama is doing right? Why so quite ... ????
