Marco Rubio gave the Republican response to Obama's SOTU address. Huff 'n Puff provided very responsible and complete journalistic coverage by reporting that Sen Rubio.................awkwardly took a drink of water during his response. Wow, now that is substantive journalism.

No doubt he should hydrate before he speaks because they will focus on anything other than content. Interesting contrast between Rubio and Rand Paul responses. Rubio provided a more mainstream GOP response and Rand Paul made a case for smaller government. Huff n Puff is a completely worthless left wing rag.
As for me, I watched The King's Speech instead of the MisStatement of the Union. Based on all I have read this morning it was exactly as predicted, a left wing manifesto of big government intervention in all aspects of our lives. Which of course has never worked and will never work but hey, we didn't have a TOTUS before so lets just go ahead and try one more time.........doomed to repeat history..........
I listened to Steven Heyward this morning skewer Oblamer's lies and distortions about wind and solar, natural gas and climate change. Facts, those stubborn things that unfortunately will not reach low information voters. He asked a number of his guests an interesting question. Will voters, especially young voters, ever realize that these policies do not work and as the results occur will they turn away from even more and bigger government solutions or will they clamor for more of the same failed policies? Got a mixed bag of responses but the gist of it was not encouraging. Despite lackluster results, most who answered the question sensed that those low information voters will go back to the ballot box and ask for more government despite the prior failures. I too am not optimistic given the sorry state of our education system and the degradation of our culture.

Judge Scalia has been my hero for some time now and last night was no exception. For the 16th straight year he did not attend the SOTU speech because, as he says eloquently, "it has become a childish spectacle". I don't believe he even watched as was the case with many Americans as the TV ratings for the speech were in the tank. Fox down 50% from last year. More excitement at Big Bear Lake!

Good for Judge Scalia. Exactly On Point. For so many years I have been against the "one example to prove a point". No, one example is just one example. No point proven. Clinton mastered the "this is my policy, and this one person sitting next to Hillary is the reason for the policy". I appreciate the folks, and their plight or heroics, whatever the case may be, BUT, make policy based on the totality.

Unfortunately, the 50% that did watch his Majesty dump his hog slop into their sponge brains, those creatures have a vote, and a voice. As we saw from the election, the great mass of conservative voters outside dense population centers, where that 50% exists, do not have the collective power any longer to hold the line against the socialist plague that has come into power in DC and elsewhere in my country. Yes, I said My Country.

Your party will never win a Presidential election as long as the base is represented by males from rural areas who are unwilling to move from the far right. The good people of this country are not going to change....you have to change and move closer to the center to attract a wider base. Stick your head in the sand and continue to elect Democrats as President. At least, it gives the right a reason to post and complain 24/7. What a boring negative life that must be.

When you are on top of the world you only have one way to go. What you are observing Archie is the usual drop in viewership after a national election that effects all the cable news outlets except maybe the business-oriented ones. As 2014 rolls around people will become more engaged and viewership will again go up. Considering CNN's viewership hit a 20 year low last year and they have been purging their lineup all over the place I would not take much comfort in this temporary drop. But look below and you will see that Fox still crushes the competition.

How do you like the latest numbers from many different polling organizations of the approval of the Republican party in general as well as GOP congressional members?? They give some credence to the need for you guys to take off the blinders, turn off FAUX, pull your head out of the sand and look reality in the eye. Yeah I know..."No compromise of principles, blah blah".......De Minted has said he had rather be in a permanent minority that stood on it's principles than in a majority that stayed there by compromise........He said a lot of stupid things but that is the the top of the heap!!
There is a lot of truth in the old saying..."You catch more flies with honey than with vinagar." The GOP will not get the love of the growing Hispanic vote by trotting out a Hispanic to to spout the same old vinager on every issue save one ...they will not cut into the black Democratic vote by appointing a black Senator who makes Strom Thurmond look like a knee jerk liberal. Eventually the GOP will get the point that it is those "principles" that are being rejected and then decide how to go forward from there. Even beyond that, people don't vote for people who make it obvious that they just really don't like you or respect your right to an opinion! Americans want COMPROMISE and HATE that the current bunch on both sides are hide bound not to permit it siting "PRINCIPLE" as the throw the nation off the cliff!

If moving toward the center means agreeing for our government to cover trillions in debt with more spending and more debt, then I will stay right. Sooner or later, Rep or Dem, CNN or Fox, our debt rating will fall. And those guys across the Pacific holding a ton of our paper will come looking for payment in something other than more paper. At that point, they will tell the POTUS/Congress/Treasury what is going to happen, and when. Sort of like a Foreclosure, you know??

I was merely responding to your post about Fox News with some factual numbers and some commentary about why all viewership is down and you now want to talk about something else?!? Very curious that when you made your comment and I followed it with factual information about how Fox News crushes the other cable news outlets you suddenly want to talk about anything else.
I will leave my response to speak for itself but it clearly points out that Fox is by far the most popular cable news outlet. As a friend used to say, DWIP......deal with it please. If you want to talk about approval ratings maybe you should start another thread. And start with TOTUS' approval numbers back down to 46%.

Yes, between that and asteroids being caused by global warming.....which by the way hasn't happened during the last decade.....one can understand why layoffs and firings are pretty much a daily occurrences at CNN these days. What is Solobad Obrien doing these days anyway? And poor Piers Morgan....with the death of Christopher Dorner his ratings have fallen by 20%. Shame he doesn't have more family members to boost him back up.
I have to admit, I would never have thought a network could systematically destroy itself but CNN is proving otherwise.

I don't know when their downfall started, because years ago CNN was a reputable place to get unfiltered news of national and world events. I first became disillusioned one Summer day before the 2008 election while I was in the Crown Room at JFK waiting for my flight to Rome. The television was on CNN, and for about three hours straight the coverage was nothing but Obama and it was all positive...I thought to myslef then that they should rername themselves ONN, Obama News Network. And it has been on a downhill slide ever since.

I was merely making a factual rejoinder to another poster concerning the 50% drop in SOTU viewers on FOX, and supplementing my comments with additional polling facts which demonstrate the depths to which the GOP brand has sunk. I then made editorial comments (biased for sure...that is the nature of the beast) appropriate to the data.
Now as another response to your reply....What poll do you see that shows Obama approval so low? All the polls I see ( including your favorite Rasmussen at 56% approval) show him in very good position with most above 50% approval or at least with a wide gap between approval / disapproval to the positive side. But you know, even if the president drops to 46% he is still 25%+/- ahead of the GOP in congress and there lies the GOP's problem. Get with it or evolve into the "highly principled" Whigs of the 21st century.

Lets see, you morph a thread about low viewership of the SOTU into the loss of viewers at Fox, to which I responded, to which you morphed again to the popularity of Congress. Start a new thread and maybe I will join in if it interests me. As for you much beloved congressional ratings, remember two things. One, Dems control the Senate so this reflects on them as well. Two, what really matters is the favor ability of individual congressman and I can tell you mine is way more popular than Obama. It's one reason I love here, so I can be represented by an accomplished doctor rather than an addle-brained libtard that thinks Guam will tip over or doesn't want to be confused by facts.

I specifically addressed the popularity of REPUBLICANS in congress, not the popularity of congress in general, so your statement about Democratic senate control is not really relevant.
Now congress as a whole is currently held in low esteem as are the members of both parties, but the GOP is 45% to 60% in the hole compared to 15% to 25% for the Democrats. You are correct, the most important number is the one applied to individual members when it comes what happens on election day, but the general approval / disapproval numbers shows the nation as a whole is very down on the GOP brand and the current antics of Messers Boehner and McConnell and T-party nuts makes it worse day by day. Eventually the false balance rendered by the 2011 gerrymandering will self-correct as the demographic changes pick up momentum.
Now I'm sure you don't agree with my analysis, you never do, but your thinking is skewed because you believe EVERTHING that FAUX says and NOTHING the unbiased polling organizations are telling you or for that matter, anything that the substantial majority of citizens not living in your rightwing dream world believes. I assume we all remember how FAUX's predictions turned out on election night.
Take off the blinders MM. face reality MM.

And acknowledge that I was right that one poll showed TOTUS with only a 46% approval rating. I am occasionally mistaken but only occasionally. And it does not surprise me that you only watch left-wing news outlets. I am sure their slant on the news makes perfect sense to you.
As for me, I will continue to extract my own information and leave the teleprompter readers to the low information sheople.
As for Boehner's or Hillary's ratings I could care less. But believe me Archie, if Hillary got the negative coverage that Boehner does she would be in the toilet right along with him because those polls reflect back what the govt media is telling them. If Hillary were a Republican with Benghazi she would have already resigned. But Democrats can get away with negligent homicide, and yes, I am 100% convinced she and TOTUS are responsible for the death of those four men in Benghazi.
